I think my excitement got in my way a little bit this conversation! I was frothing so hard on the opportunity to talk to this bloke, but also uncomfortably aware of how time-critical his schedule was, and how talking to a completely uneducated armchair scientist like me ranked very, very, very low as a priority. Dr Charlie Huveneers is a professor at Flinders University in Adelaide, South Australia, and as much of an authority on sharks as they come. I reckon I could have talked to him for hours on end, but we only had 45 minutes and I wanted to pick his brains about the most controversial aspects of the great white shark debate that’s currently ravaging ocean communities.
