After sparking outrage with outright fascist rhetoric, Jair Bolsonaro was elected president of Brazil on October 28. The obvious questions are: How did Brazil get here, and what is going to happen? In a special English episode of the podcast, Research Fellow Leonardo Custódio from the University of Tampere explains how history, class, race and the media are interwoven in Brazilian politics. Instead of resorting to simplistic narratives, it is necessary to take all these elements into account if we wish to make any sense of the turbulent situation.
