Continuing this new fun trend we have of watching 80s and 90s films loosely related to current Oscar frontrunners (see our episode about The Cutting Edge and I, Tonya) tonight we watched everyone's favorite fish out of water film, Splash, as we found it has a near identical plot to The Shape of Water! Directed by Ron Howard and starring Tom Hanks and Daryl Hannah, Splash is a rom com with a fishy twist.  Mermaid saves man, then man saves mermaid, but not before she steals his heart! We drank too many margaritas so had a sugar high and giggled a lot but come along and listen to us stumble through this crazy ass plot, talk about our fondness for mermaids and mermaid lore, crack up over the plot to the TV movie sequel Splash Too, and how we were really disappointed with Tom Hank's character for 10 minutes in this movie and that was enough to ruin our lives.     Theme song performed by Deidre Cullen.
