Gulls In Flight

The San Diego Gulls hit home ice for the third time this week Saturday night, this time to take on Pacific Division rival Stockton Heat, in a pivotal AHL playoff race match-up. Entering the game, the Gulls sat in 3rd place with 73 points (tied with Colorado), two points behind San Jose and 10 points behind Bakersfield. The Gulls needed a win tonight to keep up with the tight playoff race! Despite many scoring chances in the first period, the Gulls and Heat found themselves locked in a scoreless tie after 20 minutes of play. For only the second time this season, the Gulls and their opponent entered the 3rd period in a scoreless tie. Despite the scoreless tie, it felt like the Gulls had more control of the game, leading in shot totals 25-20, and getting stellar chances and goal tending.
