Most people think about Parkinson's disease as being just what it's called: a disease — a distinct clinical entity, which can be treated as a thing to itself. In fact, however, like all the other diseases of aging, it's the result of the lifelong accumulation of specific kinds of cellular and molecular damage that happen to all of us as part of the biological aging process.
