Have you ever convinced yourself that you won't be worthy or good enough until you achieve a particular goal?  Setting standards and having goals are extremely important in life.  However, when it's only motivated by that inner critic and unrealistic expectations, it's a formula for reinforcing the hamster wheel of your negative core beliefs.  (not good enough, unworthy, incapable, stupid, failure.)   Perfectionism is motivated by how things will appear and what others will think.  People strive for perfection out of shame, only to feel even more humiliated when they can never achieve "perfection."  You are so much more than your ability to impress others.
