Last week, former US Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, a former Democrat from Hawaii, stunned her party by rejecting them, announcing that she had left the Democrat Party because of their intolerant and extremist ideology; an ideology centered in divisive racism and sexism, and which divided the country on a plethora of issues including economic class and religion.Her indictment was profound and accurate and deserves to be heard by everyone.Now I won’t say that I agree with everything Gabbard has championed over the years, but I have a lot more in common with what people like Gabbard, Rand Paul, James Jordan, Ron Johnson, and many others who put the country before political parties have to say than we have in difference.
