Soda's cut his holidays short by than a week with everything that's going on in Adelaide (and particularly Kangaroo Island) at the moment, so he got co-host Erin Phillips on the phone to ask her to do the same!

That's it - 2019 is all over for the Mix102.3 breakfast show. What a year it has been, full of laughs, tears, guests, and rescues. Producer Thom Lion, aka Aquaman, summed it all up for us in this montage to end the year on a high.

Jess Adamson recounts the one story she covered for Channel 7 that "still breaks" her. She was one of the first reporters to arrive in Indonesia following the devastating tsunami that killed more than 220,000 people. She tells us about the part she played in reuniting a small boy orphaned by the tsunami with his only surviving family member. A real tear jerker.

Jess has investigated/reported on many of South Australia's most heinous and notorious crimes. Today she tells us the case involving Kevin Matthews and Michelle Burgess, including being alone with Matthews at the location of the murder, and a scary encounter with Burgess in prison.

We did it! SA's Greatest Game Of Backyard Cricket has been played to provide one epic Mix102.3 Rescue for Jesse, Leo, and the charities – Childhood Cancer Association & CanTeen – that supported them through their hardest times. Soda getting to play cricket with Clive Lloyd, and Jess getting up close to Tony Modra were purely side benefits!

Today is the day of SA's Greatest Game Of Backyard Cricket when Jess and Soda go head-to-head at Government House with the teams of superstars they've recruited over the past two weeks. It's all for Childhood Cancer Association and Canteen, especially the two teams captains - Jesse and Leo.

Adelaide's Today Tonight will air for the final time on Thursday night after Channel 7 decided to axe the program in favour of a one hour news bulletin which will begin on Monday. We caught up with Today Tonight host Rosanna Mangiarelli - a great Friend Of The Show - to see how she was feeling the day after the announcement.

With Tony Modra already locked in for the Canteen team, Jess couldn't help herself but go for another old favourite Crow, who is also a true icons of the 90s - The Weeeeeeddddd. Unfortunately, he says the long flowing mullet is gone but he's still the same lovable larrikin.

You know those moments when the two newsreaders try to have some off-the-cuff banter about a news story, often as they switch from general news to sport? Soda was involved in one with John Riddell that required a second listen this morning, and a third!

Just three days until game day! Not only did we recap how far we've come with SA's Greatest Game Of Backyard Cricket but Soda added Rachel Sporn to his team and we met 18-year-old Ryan, who is the most incredible spokesperson for Canteen.

Soda was on stage hosting when things went, well, a little sideways during the presentation of the 2019 South Australian Sports Star Of The Year. His explanation to smooth things over was pretty funny.

Producer Thom has an electric bike, Baz Dog the boss ordered McDonald's via delivery service Uber Eats - are we surrounded by laziness? We opened the phones and it turns our the answer is yes!

It's been a week full of celebrity guests - most having been recruited by Jess or Soda to join their Backyard Cricket team. The game is now just one week away! On this weekly podcast you'll hear all the best bits including Trav Boak, Tony Modra, Andy Lee, and Dizzy joining the teams. Bono 'visits' our wine region, Matt Preston and another Book Of Records.

Andy Lee - of Hamish and Andy fame - suggested that our Backyard Cricket game needed a grumpy neighbour that refuses to throw the ball back to make it totally authentic. So we launched a search for Adelaide's worst neighbour, and boy did we find one.

Boaky has just started his 14th AFL pre-season training but he's revealed all the training he did over in America was actually so he could be part of Soda's team in our Greatest Game Of Backyard Cricket.

Today, Jess's Where In The World? segment takes us to Byron Bay where those Maseur sandals are making a massive comeback... among the hipsters. Of course Soda used to love them. Jess said they were "so wrong"!

Crows AFLW star Chelsea Randall sounds like she'll offer plenty in the field when she joins Soda's team for SA's Greatest Game of Backyard Cricket next week, although she'll just have to remember not to knock out the other fielders. Meanwhile, Jess has pulled off a huge coup, getting one of the world's fastest ever bowlers to play for her team - good luck facing Shaun Tait, Soda!

State Opposition Leader Peter Malinauskas will take on his political rival Steven Marshall in our backyard cricket game next week, while the superstar of the Adelaide Strikers WBBL side, Sophie Devine will dispatch all comers around the ground when she joins Jess's team for Canteen.
