On New Years Eve 2012, Andi and Jamie sat down in the front room of Sour Grapes Hotel to discuss the year gone by. Aaaaand we're back. In an attempt to bring structure to our meandering rants about geeky crap and punk rock, we've decided to introduce a modicum of structure in the way of themes and regular features. After another lengthy gap (we’re getting really good at them now), Sour Grapes returns in an action-packed extravaganza of blood and righteous violence. Will Jamie find favourite hat? Will Andi remember which songs he chose to play this week? All this and more in this episode of Sour Grapes! In all seriousness though, we’ve tried to take a little bit of a different direction with this one. That is why you will find within lengthy discussions about the best Batman story arc, who our favourite voices actors are, and some kind of quantum singularity where everything is composed of Spinal Tap quotes. This week is a pre-ManchFESTer special, so we thought we’d invite organiser Kieran Kelly around to discuss the festival, play some songs from the bands involved and hopefully start some some beef. So today we were watching a Secret Weapons Of Kung Fu Volume 1, and it occurred to us that Kung Fu used to be a rad label, and being the arrogant bastards we are, a tribute podcast seemed only fitting. Yes it is only our third episode. Shut up. So, for the next hour and twenty minutes, feel free to lose yourself in our musical adolescence, with some great tracks from the likes of Ozma, The Ataris, Audio Karate and The Vandals, and a terrible (in hindsight) song from Antifreeze. So here we are with the second episode of Sour Grapes, and it’s pretty much more of the same. So, after spending far longer than is reasonable trying to come up with a name for the bloody thing, here is the first episode of the Sour Grapes podcast, a weekly nugget of punk rock goodness and mindless chit-chat that will hopefully provide some kind of mild amusement. There’s no real theme here, just awesome bands that we want to share with you, and us entertaining the misguided notion that our in-joke and reference riddled conversations are worth your time.
