George Washington's Farewell Speech
08/01/2019 Duração: 04minI have waited entirely too long to upload a new episode. While I get the next one together, here's a reading of one of George Washington's more famous speeches. He challenges Americans to love the nation they have built and set aside their petty differences. This seems like a particularly poignant notion considering present politics.

Guns! Perspectives English and French
10/05/2018 Duração: 01h15minSeason two has arrived! In this campaign season, join me in discussions about international perspectives on American domestic issues. It seems like every educated person all over the world has their own (often well-informed) opinion on American political and social issues. I'm seeing to gain a bit of wisdom from the non-American folk I meet in France. This basically makes me Thomas Jefferson, right? In this episode, you will be meeting two dear friends of mine. Dan and Clement. Dan is English, spent a great deal of his life in Ireland, and has been residing in Paris for the last two years. Clement is French and from a rural town outside of Toulouse. We're going to talk about guns! Specifically, I'm asking for their perspective on gun laws and gun culture in America.

18F And A More Agile United States With Zachary Cohn
17/08/2017 Duração: 42minZachary Cohn was the first person I thought of when I decided to make a podcast in which I interview people working with the public sector. He has an impressive list of accomplishments, but the one we're discussing today is his recent work with 18F. 18F is a rather young government agency housed under the General Services Administration. Their purpose is to support agencies in transforming the way they deliver digital services and technology products. Zac has spent the last two years working in this agency, and has agreed to share his experiences with me (and you, the listener!). If you want to learn more about 18F, you can go to 18F.gsa.gov. You can find Zac on Twitter @ZacharyCohn. Keep following my campaign on Facebook at Tyler 2040.

Dissolving a Village With Dale Holderman
17/07/2017 Duração: 36minAs promised, I have re-edited this episode to cut it down to a reasonable time and actually add the intro and outro. This interview is one of the first conversations I wanted to have when Tyler 2040 was first conceived. In 2013, my hometown of Keeseville, NY, ceased to exist. The village had voted to dissolve into the two surrounding towns of AuSable and Chesterfield. At the time, that was the craziest thing I had ever heard. Looking back, it's sort of like the UK voting to leave the EU. My guest is Dale Holderman was elected mayor of Keeseville, NY in 2012. Dale was the last mayor of Keeseville and was tasked with preparing the village for dissolution shortly after his election. Keeseville is a village in northeastern New York State. Its population is about 1800. The former village now hamlet has a pretty high poverty rate and very low demographic diversity.

Health Care By Otto Von Bismarck
11/05/2017 Duração: 18minAfter a long cold open, I'm talking to you about my experiences and some basic research into the Bismarck model of national health care. This is the system used in Germany, Japan, and France. Check out these resources to learn more.
