Engaging with Ethics: Biological Sciences and Political Philosophies
14/02/2019 Duração: 42minThis episode features an interview with Dr. Colin Farrelly, who is Professor and Queen’s National Scholar in the Department of Political Studies. In addition to spending the last 10 years of his 20 year career here at Queen’s, he has also held academic appointments at UCLA, Oxford University, Waterloo University, Birmingham University and the University of Waterloo. In the fall of 2018 he was the Fulbright Visiting Research Chair in the Social Sciences at the University of Manoa in Hawaii. The author and editor of 6 books and approximately 50 journal articles, Colin has published articles in political science, philosophy, law, science and medicine. His two most recent book publications are Biologically Modified Justice, published by Cambridge University Press in 2016. And Genetic Ethics: An Introduction published by Polity Books in 2018. Colin is also involved in volunteer initiatives to teach political philosophy and ethics to inmates in prison and children in elementary school.
