Waterfront Rescue Mission Presents Confessions Of A Homeless Man

Meet Patrick. From the outside, it looked like he had everything together. A great job with good pay, a college degree, and all the cool stuff you'd ever want to brag about having on social media. What he also had was a severe alcohol and drug problem and a dysfunctional family background. Thanks to enablers who only increased his dependancy on drugs, he nearly died from a heroin overdose. Since comijng to Waterfront, Patrick has begun the process of forgiving his dysfunctional family, enabling friends, and perhaps most difficult of all, himself. Meet Jim. Jim has 25 years experience in food preparation and service. Jim was in the Army and National Guard as a specialist in setting up laundry. Jim has a good relationship with his family.   But Jim still ended up homeless and became an alcoholic.   When we say it can happen to anyone, we mean it. In this month's episode of Confession's of a Homeless Man, we get the opportunity to hear Jim's story. Like, share, and tell others that there is hope for the hopeless.

Alvie came from a loving home. His adopted mother raised him to be self sufficient and to love God. But over the years, Alvie fell away from his faith and his health began to decline. This week on Confessions of a Homeless Man, I talked with Mike, who not only is a graduate of Waterfront's Recovery Program, but until recently was one of our chaplains! Mike's story is a true roller coaster. From honor roll, ROTC, and nuclear engineering in the Navy to the lows of drug abuse and running from the police, all the way to getting clean and helping other stay the course at Waterfront, Mike has truly experienced real transformation.

This month's episode features an interview with Chester, an Army veteran who stayed with Waterfront in our Veteran's Dorm. He had lost his apartment and was addicted to crack, and needed a place to stay. He didn't know that coming to Waterfront would be so much more than temporary shelter.
