Gareth Brookes is a graphic novelist based in south London. He uses unconventional materials to illustrate stories, such as embroidery and pyrography. We talk about how Gareth begins a story, as well as the research behind the graphic novels 'The Black Project' and 'A Thousand Coloured Castles'. You can check out Gareth's work here. Helen Sheppard took to writing and poetry later in life. In this episode she talks to me about her journey into these art forms and how her earlier career in midwifery has influenced her work.
