On this first Sunday of Advent, we focus on the love of Christ displayed in His coming to earth. As Jesus' love caused Him to move outward, today we'll see how His early followers followed His examples (Acts 7:54-8:40) and also moved outward in expressing and extending His love.

This year we are journeying through the book of Acts, focusing on how God desires to take His people deeper and wider in our walk with Him. Today we come to a long speech by Stephen (Acts 7:1-53) in which he responded to the challenge of a hard-hearted religious group who charged that his teaching about Jesus was attacking the Temple and the Law. He answered with a historical survey of Jewish history that showed how Jesus fulfils the role of the temple (Acts 7:1-50) and the role of the law (Acts 7:35-53).

As we continue on in our journey through understanding and applying the hook of Acts, today we want to look at some of the practices (or spiritual disciplines) that helped shape, define, and expand early followers of Jesus.

As we continue our journey through the book of Acts, we come today to a description of the first followers of Jesus taking intentional action to ensure their ongoing health and vitality.

Today Pastor Lyle will continue a series of messages not he life of Abraham entitled, "On a Journey with Go." We come to a story that begins with Abraham discouraged by his circumstances. He has started looking toward is own resources to figure out how to fulfil God's purposes for his life. God responds with a powerful revelation of Himself that continues to speak to us today in our own journey with God.

As we continue on our series on the life of Abraham, we see a clear example of a life linked to the greater unfolding story of God. What might have appeared as aimless wandering was actually a journey God used to profoundly further His purposes.

Today we will resume the series 'On a Journey with God.' Throughout this series, we are looking at some key events in Abraham's life. At a point when God was stretching Abraham's faith, he chose to take on circumstances into his own hands. The dramatic events that came as a result affected many, perhaps most intensely, Hagar. Let's explore together how God provided opportunity for Hagar to be cared for, and what affect that had upon the nations.
