Stephen Strasburg got back to his winning ways after suffering his first loss of the season last time out. This afternoon in Cleveland, the Washington Nationals' co-ace tossed seven scoreless vs the Indians in the Washington Nationals' 4-1 win. Trea Turner (3 for 4) and Daniel Murphy powered the offense as the Nationals improved to 59-42 and earned a split of the two-game set. Washington's Nationals took a 6-4 lead into the eighth, but Shawn Kelley gave up back-to-back home runs and in the top of the ninth, Jonathan Papelbon saw a one-out walk come around to score as the San Diego Padres took the series finale, 10-6. It was the Padres' first series win over the Nationals since May 2011 and it left the Nationals 58-41 overall on the year as they head out on the road for a two-game set with the Cleveland Indians.

Max Scherzer struck out 10 batters in seven innings of work, giving up just two runs on a two-run home run in the second, but the Washington Nationals and San Diego Padres were tied at 2-2 in the ninth when Stephen Drew hit a walk-off double to win it, 3-2 final. The Nationals improved to 58-40 with the win, setting up a rubber match in the nation's capital tomorrow that will feature top prospect Lucas Giolito on the mound in the nation's capital.

Gio Gonzalez was on the mound the last time the Washington Nationals beat the Los Angeles Dodgers... in August of 2015, and he was on the mound again tonight in the Nats' 8-1 win, which snapped a six-game losing streak vs LA. Bryce Harper hit a 451 foot home run to right. Ben Revere and Jayson Werth went back-to-back. Trea Turner hit another triple and "stole" home. Nationals improve to 57-38 with the win. Reynaldo Lopez managed to strike out nine batters in his MLB debut, but the Los Angeles Dodgers touched him up a bit with 10 hits and six earned runs while he was on the mound in what ended up an 8-4 loss for the Washington Nationals. Scott Kazmir gave up just four hits and one earned run in seven innings of work, improving to 6-0 with a 3.62 ERA in his last 12 starts going back to May 14th. It was the Nationals' fourth loss in four games with the Dodgers this season and it dropped them to 56-38 overall.

The Washington Nationals were down to their last out and last strike before Daniel Murphy hit a game-tying, pinch hit homer to tie it up at 1-1 in the ninth. It went to 18 innings in D.C. before Pittsburgh Pirates' outfielder Starling Marte hit a game-winning home run. The Nationals ended up taking two of three from the visiting Pirates, and they finished the series 56-37 after their five-game winning streak was snapped in the series finale with the Bucs. 

Washington Nationals' starter Tanner Roark tossed eight scoreless on 110 pitches and the Nats cruised to their ninth straight win over the Pittsburgh Pirates in the nation's capital, 6-0 final tonight in D.C., five straight overall for the Nationals, who improved to twenty games over .500 at 56-36 on the year with one more to play with the Pirates tomorrow afternoon. Stephen Drew had a three-double night at the plate. Anthony Rendon homered and the Nats won another in Nationals Park.

Stephen Strasburg did it again, earning his 13th win of the season (13-0) in the Washington Nationals' 5-1 win over the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates. Strasburg struck out six and allowed just three hits and one earned run in eight innings of work on the mound in the nation's capital. With the win he joined Max Scherzer as the only two pitches in the last three decades to start a season 13-0. Two more with the Pirates in D.C. this weekend. 

Washington Nationals' right-hander Stephen Strasburg limited the New York Mets to one run on two hits in seven innings of work in which he struck out nine as the Nats evened up the first-half-ending four-game set with their NL East rivals, 3-1. Shawn Kelley, Oliver Perez, Blake Treinen and Jonathan Papelbon finished the Mets off after Strasburg was done for the day, throwing two scoreless frames to end the game. Nationals now 52-36 on the year with two to go before the All-Star Break.

Washington Nationals' right-hander Tanner Roark played the role of stopper again, beating the Milwaukee Brewers for the second time in two starts with run-support via home runs by Bryce Harper, Jose Lobaton and Ryan Zimmerman in what ended up a 7-4 win in the nation's capital. Washington improved to 51-35 with the win as they head to New York for a first-half-ending four-game set with the Mets in Citi Field. Washington Nationals' lefty Gio Gonzalez gave up a two-run sixth inning home run that put the Milwaukee Brewers up for good in what ended up a 5-2 loss in the nation's capital. It was the Nats' second straight loss to the visiting Brewers. Zach Davies put together a solid outing for the visiting team which took the season series with the Nats, who fell to 50-35 overall on the season. Max Scherzer gave up his major-league leading 21st home run of the year and it was all the Milwaukee Brewers needed as Junior Guerra dominated the Nats in what ended up a 1-0 win over the Washington Nationals on the 4th of July in D.C. Stephen Strasburg pitched 6 2/3 no-hit innings and the Washington Nationals pounded out six home runs, incliding another Danny Espinosa grand slam, in a 12-1 win over the Cincinnati Reds for their 50th win of the season.

Cincinnati Reds' right-hander Dan Straily held the Washington Nationals to one hit and one run through seven, but the Nats rallied to tie it at 4-4 in the eighth before losing 9-4 in extras to snap their six-game win streak. Joe Ross struggled early before "settling in" but an ugly top of the tenth inning cost the Nationals, who fell to 49-33 on the year with one more to play with the Reds tomorrow afternoon when Stephen Strasburg will return from the DL to start in the nation's capital.

Washington and Cincinnati were tied at 2-2 in the fourteenth when a HBP and groundout put Danny Espinosa on second with Ben Revere at the plate and Revere hit a walk-off double to right to win it. 3-2 final. Nationals win their sixth straight. With the win the Nats improved to 49-32 on the year. Tanner Roark put together a solid start but didn't factor in the decision. Revere's walk-off winner was his third hit of teh game in seven at bats. Let's go Nats!

The Washington Nationals pounded the Cincinnati Reds in the series opener in the nation's capital, scoring 13 runs in what ended up being a 13-4 win. Danny Espinosa hit a grand slam and a three-run home run to end an impressive month of June at the plate. Gio Gonzalez put together a solid start, and he got plenty of run support as the Nats rallied from an early deficit and kept piling on runs in their fifth straight win overall. Nationals now 48-32.

Washington Nationals' starter Max Scherzer dominated an overmatched New York Mets' lineup and the Nats cruised to a 4-2 win and a sweep of the three-game set with their divisional rivals. After four straight wins, the Nationals were 47-32 on the year and they have a 6.0 game lead over the 3rd place Mets and 5.5 game lead over the Miami Marlins heading into the four-game long weekend set with the Cincinnati Reds that starts at 7:05 PM EDT tomorrow night in D.C.

Lucas Giolito featured a 95 mph fastball, devastating curveball and a sharp changeup to go four strong innings before a lengthy rain delay shortened his first appearance and the Washington Nationals downed the New York Mets for the second night in a row, 5-0, before 29,918 at Nats Park.

After falling behind 4-0 early, the Washington Nationals rallied with eleven unanswered runs in what ended up an 11-4 win over the New York Mets in the nation's capital. That's two straight for the Nats after seven losses in a row as the Nats improved to 45-32 on the year. Joe Ross was shaky early, but settled in as the Nationals knocked Mets' right-hander Noah Syndergaard out after just three innings on the mound in Nationals Park.
