Max Scherzer wasn't exactly sharp, but the Washington Nationals' right-hander battled for six innings and the Nats' bullpen did the rest in what ended up a 6-4 win over the Atlanta Braves. The Nats beat the Braves for the 11th win in a row against Atlanta in the nation's capital. Daniel Murphy and Wilson Ramos came up big on offense as well as the Nationals improved 4-1 so far.

Washington Nationals' starter Joe Ross rebounded after a shaky start and put together a solid out in the Nats' 4-2 win over the Miami Marlins in Nationals Park. Jayson Werth and Clint Robinson came up with big hits late in the game to put the Nationals ahead and Blake Treinen and Jonathan Papelbon locked it down in the eighth and ninth inning, respectively. Nats improve to 3-1 with the win.

Daniel Murphy and Bryce Harper provided some offense, but the Washington Nationals were not able to overcome the Miami Marlins in the Nats' home opener, falling 6-4 on Thursday.

Stephen Strasburg put together a solid start against the Atlanta Braves and Matt den Dekker came up with the big hit for the Washington Nationals in what ended up a 3-1 win in Turner Field. Jonathan Papelbon made it interesting, but earned his second save in two games in the 9th. Nationals now 2-0 under new skipper Dusty Baker. Up next, the home opener in D.C. tomorrow afternoon...

The Washington Nationals and Atlanta Braves traded home runs early and leads late as the bullpens struggled in what ended up a 4-3 win for the Nats when Daniel Murphy drove in the go-ahead run in the top of the tenth inning in Turner Field. Nationals take the season opener from the Braves, 1-0 on the year. And of course Bryce Harper homered in his first at bat of the year..

Washington Nationals' GM Mike Rizzo has rebuilt the Nats' bullpen, added second baseman Daniel Murphy on a free agent deal and now traded for a left-handed leadoff hitter in Ben Revere. Are the Nationals done building the roster for 2015? Will they add a starting pitcher before Spring Training begins? How has Rizzo done this winter? Will Dusty Baker take the new-look Nats to the next level? Is my dream of Trea Turner as the Opening Day shortstop officially over?

The Washington Nationals were rumored to be in the process of signing Bud Black as their new manager, but over the weekend things went awry with the negotiations and this morning the Nats ended up naming Dusty Baker as the sixth full-time skipper since baseball's return to the nation's capital in 2005. What went wrong? Who makes a one-year offer? Was Baker the right choice in the end anyway? Was all the drama really necessary? What's next for the Nats? 

Earlier this afternoon the Washington Nationals announced that they made the decision to fire manager Matt Williams and dismiss all of the Nats' coaches, though GM Mike Rizzo, when he spoke to reporters, said some of the coaches were offered other positions in the organization. The Nationals will immediately begin the search for their new manager with a focus on experience and finding someone who can help them win now.

The Washington Nationals took two of three from the NL East division winners from New York, but couldn't complete the sweep of the season-ending series in Citi Field, dropping a 1-0 decision in Game 162 of 162 to finish at 83-79 overall in a disappointing 2015 campaign. At least the Nationals weren't no-hit... though it came close. See you next season, NatsTown.

Washington Nationals' starter Max Scherzer struck out 17 of the 28 New York Mets' hitters he faced, working around an error that was the only thing that kept him from a perfect game in Citi Field. Scherzer settled for his second no-hitter of the season in the Nats' 2-0 win over the Mets. 17 Ks? Nine-straight Ks towards the end? Just unreal. Max Scherzer does it again!! Mad Max ends his season with an unbelievable performance.

Stephen Strasburg threw six scoreless frames for the Washington Nationals, working with a 1-0 lead over the Atlanta Braves and the Nats added two runs late, setting left-handed reliever Felipe Rivero up for a two-inning outing out of the bullpen with which he earned his first major league save. 3-0 Nationals final in Turner Field. It was another strong start for Strasburg, who finished his 2015 campaign strong after a slow, injury-hampered start.

The Washington Nationals dropped the series opener with the Atlanta Braves 2-1 tonight in Turner Field, but if you're they type that's into silver linings, Trea Turner did hit his first major league home run tonight, taking Braves' righty Matt Wisler deep for a solo shot to left field that accounted for the Nats' only run of the game. Congrats, Trea. And let's agree not to talk about that bunt in the ninth...okay? Thanks.

Max Scherzer did everyone in Washington, D.C. a favor with his bid for his second no-hitter of the season this afternoon, momentarily distracting us all from the dugout drama after the Bryce Harper vs Jonathan Papelbon brawl. Scherzer gave up the first hit in the eighth, but the Washington Nationals beat the Cincinnati Reds, 5-1, then it was back to talk about Papelbon's suspension and Harper's role in the fracas...

The Washington Nationals dropped a 12-5 decision to the Philadelphia Phillies, but all anyone will be talking about after today's game is the dugout brawl between Bryce Harper and Jonathan Papelbon that took place in the eighth inning of today's game. It can't get much uglier than this... at least Nats fans hope. Brawling with the MVP? Not a good idea, Pap.

Washington Nationals' right-hander Stephen Strasburg struck out 13 batters in eight innings of work, but gave up a run before he was done as the Philadelphia Phillies tied it up and it went to extras before Bryce Harper hit a walk-off double to give the Nats a 2-1 win... meanwhile, in Cincinnati, the New York Mets clinched the NL East.

The Nats dropped their fourth straight overall in the series opener with the Philadelphia Phillies. 8-2 final in the nation's capital. Nationals on brink of elimination from postseason contention...

The Washington Nationals rallied to take a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the seventh, but gave it right back in the top of the eighth when Baltimore Orioles' catcher Matt Wieters took Nats' right-hander Blake Treinen deep for a two-run blast that gave the O's a lead and a sweep of the three-game set in the nation's capital. 5-4 final in D.C.

The Washington Nationals took a 3-2 lead into the seventh inning and Nats' skipper Matt Williams stuck with his ace, Max Scherzer, but Baltimore Orioles' slugger Manny Machado crushed a 2-2 fastball from Scherzer and hit a two-run, go-ahead home run out to the Red Porch Seats to lift the O's to a 4-3 win in the nation's capital. And of course, the New York Mets lost again tonight... 

The Washington Nationals couldn't take advantage of four errors by the normally defensively proficient Baltimore Orioles, or a New York Mets' loss to the Atlanta Braves. The Nats missed an opportunity to pick up a game in the NL East as they dropped the series opener with the O's in the nation's capital. 4-1 final. But Bryce Harper took mad walks, bro. Mad walks, setting a Nats' single season record.
