The Guardians' Adventure

Dor and Kenya have been best friends since they first met in high school, when Dor had just moved to Planet New Kansas. When they graduate with honours, their future looks bright. But when their application to The Pilgrims, a space exploration agency, is rejected, they are left scrambling to find a way forward. Their other options are limited and no one can keep them together. Or so they thought.

Both of Doyle's parents had retired from the Human Alliance fleet, the main military and police force of the Known World. She'd always thought she'd rather be caught dead than sign up. That is, until the recruiter insisted they could stay together when they enlisted. Captured? They had to get married. 33rd century or not, New Kansas had never done anything like that.

On their way to basic training, their group was thwarted by pirates. With the help of a distance too far, they took upon themselves to try and escape their captors. After all, in space, no one can hear you travelling.
