  • Down A Skater, No Problem! Contract Negotiations With Sam Bennett Have Begun

    21/10/2024 Duração: 35min

On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Colby Guy(@ColbyDGuy) of PucksAndPalms.Com to break down the Panthers' 4-3 OT win over the Vegas Golden Knights in a rematch of the 2023 Stanley Cup Final, where the Panthers found a way to win while being down a skater due to their fair share of injuries and the salary cap constraints came with it. The Panthers found a way to counter every time Vegas threw a punch, and it paid off with them getting a win with 16 seconds left in overtime thanks to Gustav Forsling. Sam Reinhart and Sam Bennett got on the scoresheet again, and the Panthers had six players who had at least five shots on goal in the contest. There was a highlight reel save by Sergei Bobrovsky that was similar to his save back in game two of the first round of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs. The guys give their thoughts on the save and where the numbers stand as far as dominance in the offensive zone. After Saturday's game, Elliotte Friedman of Sport

  • Panthers Lose in OT 3-2 at Home to Vancouver. Mackie Samoskevich Gets His First NHL Point!

    18/10/2024 Duração: 38min

On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Nich Fairbanks(@prudentia0) for another edition of Fairbanks Friday. The two break down the Panthers' 3-2 OT loss against the Vancouver Canucks in their first game of their three-game homestand. It was the battle of the two goaltenders between Kevin Lankinen and Sergei Bobrovsky, but it was Lankinen who got the best of this one as the Panthers never led on the night, but the game never felt out of reach. The Panthers responded 11 seconds after the Canucks scored on a wraparound goal, but a goal of their own off a rebound after a wraparound. The assist from the wraparound attempt got Mackie Samoskevich his first NHL point. Anton Lundell stayed hot as he got a goal on the Panthers only PP of the game. The two also discuss Lundell taking up the big assignments and making the stars look silly. The Panthers had to play this contest with Jonah Gadjovich leaving midway through the first period and Sam Reinhart heading

  • Panthers & Blue Jackets Honor The Gaudreau's. Win 4-3 In Columbus to Finish Road Trip Strong

    16/10/2024 Duração: 37min

On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Jacob Winans(@JacobWinans8) for another edition of Winans Wednesday. The two break down the ceremony with the Panthers and Blue Jackets honored Johnny Gaudreau in Columbus' Home Opener, where they brought in the family as well as hanging a banner of Gaudreau and the number 13 on it. After all that, there was a hockey game to be played, the guys break down Florida falling behind twice in the second period, but the play of Anton Lundell and Sam Reinhart was the difference for the second night in a row as the team continued to navigate without Aleksander Barkov and Matthew Tkachuk. Spencer Knight was between the pipes , and was challenged with facing 38 shots on the night. • The Panthers are in the Heads of The Bruins, Win 4-3 in a Familiar Place

    14/10/2024 Duração: 35min

On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) breaks down the Panthers' 4-3 win over the Boston Bruins. Florida came in once again going 11F-7D with Uvis Balinskis taking the fourth line winger spot, and Paul Maurice telling the media that Matthew Tkachuk will be out at least until 10/22. Florida went back to the scene of the crime where they clinched both of their last two postseason series against Boston, and it was your typical matchup of physicality and bad blood between the two teams. After Boston took the early lead, the Panthers responded less than two minutes later when Anton Lundell scored while the teams were 4-on-4 shortly after an offensive zone draw. The game got tense after AJ Greer delivered a hit on David Pastrnak that went uncalled, where the Bruins lost their composure quite a few times (with McAvoy's crosscheck on Verhaeghe and Pastrnak's interference on Reinhart). Panthers were able to convert on the power play five seconds into the man advantage

  • It was Spencer Knight's first NHL Game in 20 Months, Panic Button nowhere close to Getting Pressed

    14/10/2024 Duração: 34min

On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) is here to break down the Panthers 5-2 loss at the hands of the Buffalo Sabres, where they were without Aleksander Barkov (week-to-week) and Matthew Tkachuk (illness), and having to roll 11F-7D on the night. In addition, Spencer Knight played his first NHL since February 18th, 2024, his first performance back was shaky to say the least. The best part about a shaky outing, is the fact that Spencer is likely to be back between the pipes soon as the Cats will have a back-to-back on Monday and Tuesday, so it will be an opportunity for Knight to bounce back. The Cats roll into Monday's game against the Bruins, who they just saw six days prior. It'll be the Panthers' fourth straight division matchup to start the year, where they visit the place that they've found a lot of success in recently, including two series clinching games in the last two postseasons. We discuss and more on today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panther

  • Panthers Lose 3-1 In Ottawa. To Make Matters Worse, lose Barkov At The End

    11/10/2024 Duração: 34min

On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Nich Fairbanks(@Prudentia0) for another edition of Fairbanks Friday. The two are here to break down the Panthers' 3-1 loss at the hands of the Ottawa Senators. The Sens looked like the more desperate team coming out of the gate as they out skated the Cats in the first 20 minutes with multiple chances off the rush, including 17 shots in the first period. The Panthers buckled down in the second period and beyond spending a bunch of time in the Senators end, but the commitment to shot blocking helped Ottawa deny the Panthers from completing their comeback attempt. There were a lot of great things going for the Panthers after they switched up the top six, until the last 1:10 of the game when the Cats had the extra attacker. During the 6-on-5, Captain Aleksander Barkov broke is stick and chased Tim Stutzle in an attempt to deny him from scoring on the empty net. After the conversion, Stutzle and Barkov collided at t

    10/10/2024 Duração: 37min

On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) is here to break down Carter Verhaeghe's new contract with the Cats, which will kick in next season at $7M AAV. The core is now locked up until the end of the 2029-30 season, but Panthers President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Bill Zito gave himself some future flexibility in the case that Florida needs to pivot once the majority of the deals for the Panthers are up. Last year, we spoke on how the Cats had to choose between Reinhart and Montour, but who do the Panthers now prioritize between Aaron Ekblad and Sam Bennett this coming offseason? Lastly, we preview tonight's game as the Panthers go into Ottawa to face Brady Tkachuk and co., and is this the year that the Sens break their playoff drought? The Panthers were shot out of a cannon as they had a multi-goal lead in the first period, which the second line led by Sam Bennett truly set the tone. The Panthers also responded quickly after giving up a shorty, with a shorty themselves, after an incredible save by Sergei Bobrovsky on Brad Marchand, Sam Reinhart scored on an unreal way getting around Bruins Defenseman Charlie McAvoy to beat Joonas Korpisalo on the far side to extend their lead to two once again. The Cats got in the heads of the Bruins as there were a lot of post whistle scrums that resulted in Panther power plays. Some of the newcomers got into the mix along with the scoring in AJ Greer
