Panthers Grind Out Low-Event Game in NJ, win 2-1 in a Shootout
15/01/2025 Duração: 39minOn today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Jacob Winans for another edition of Winans Wednesday. The two break down the Panthers' 2-1 shootout win over the New Jersey Devils from the Prudential Center on Tuesday night. A scoreless game through the first 40 minutes where the Panthers took care of the NZ. Although the Panthers struggled to get to the net front, they were still able to generate plenty of speed on the night. Paul Maurice juggled the lines, but quickly put Jesper Boqvist back with Anton Lundell, and it paid off getting the first goal of the game 41 seconds into the third period. Although New Jersey scored less than two minutes later, the game picked up when Matthew Tkachuk placed a hit on Nico Hischer (which resulted in a Devils PP). Spencer Knight came up big on the evening, saving 26/27, while also stopping Jack Hughes and Jesper Bratt in the shootout, while Aleksander Barkov and Anton Lundell scored some beauties. Panthers Puck Management and Penalty Trouble Costly in Philly, Spoils Reinhart's Two-Goal Night
14/01/2025 Duração: 32minOn today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) broke down the Panthers' 4-3 loss to the Flyers, where the Cats went into the second period with a two-goal lead. Flyers tilted the ice in the second period and slowly but surely, it ended up in the lead evaporating. Philadelphia took away the Panthers time and space, and play around the crease was not at their best, as the majority of the scoring came up the Flyers getting to the net front. Sam Reinhart scored two special teams goals on the night, including a highlight reel goal short-handed, but it was spoiled as Panthers lost their first game in regulation when leading after 40 minutes in over two years. We give our three duds of the game, when we thought the game was lost, and preview tonight's game in New Jersey. Panthers Had One of their Best Performances Saturday in a Loss. Ekblad To Miss More Time
13/01/2025 Duração: 33minOn today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) is here to break down Saturday's 4-3 loss for the Panthers against the Boston Bruins at home. The Cats outshot Boston by more than double, but Jeremy Swayman backstopped the Bruins to a win. Although the Cats gave up two goals on the PK, they went three straight kills without allowing a shot, they limited the breakaway chances, and although they never had a lead, they consistently pushed and had Boston on their heels, even going into the final frame. It manifested in a goal by Sam Reinhart with less than 2 seconds less in regulation to give the Panthers a point, the Cats did have force over time, but due to a penalty taken, the Bruins went on the power play and converted to get the extra point on a block that ended up in the back of their net. The Cats now shift their focus to the Flyers for the third and final matchup of the season, where it'll begin a stretch of eight games in 14 nights. We discuss all of this and more

Panthers Win First Game in Utah! Will Host the 2026 Winter Classic!
09/01/2025 Duração: 38minOn today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Jackson Holzer(@JacksonH_52) to the show to break down the Panthers' 4-1 win over the Utah Hockey Club. The Panthers reunited with Kevin Stenlund the night before as he got his Stanley Cup ring. As far as the game went, the Cats played a controlled game as they started to get it going after a TV timeout in which Paul Maurice probably had the quote of the season. Utah had 17 shots in the second period, but we did not consider many of their chances in the high quality category, and another Panther broke out of their goal drought, Wednesday night was Sam Reinhart's turn. With his PPG in the second period, he is now second in franchise history with 67. The Cats scored early in the third period to separate themselves as Jesper Boqvist gave the Panthers the lead after Utah looked a bit lost in their own end after a broken stick. Florida added two ENG's (one of them by Boqvist) to put the game away. The two give their

The two provide a wellness check on the Panthers through 41 games in 2024-25. The Panther offensive numbers are just about the same, but the goals against at 5-on-5 have taken the biggest of dips. Although the Panthers scoring has struggled lately, there are signs from the last calendar month that the goaltending is trending in the right direction. Carter Verhaeghe has been the Panther that has regressed the most, but could him scoring while on a line with Anton Lundell continue into the second half of the season and break out of his first half funk? Lastly, we preview tonight' game between the Cats and the Utah Hockey Club (formerly the Arizona Coyotes) on Wednesday night as Kevin Stenlund will be on the opposite side of the ice. Stenlund has taken his value from last years Cup run and hoping to help a young team take that next step in their

31/12/2024 Duração: 35minOn today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) broke down the Panthers' win over the New York Rangers 5-3, which was another response by the team after a lackluster performance in the previous game against Montreal. The Panthers scored their goals in similar ways on Monday night where it was the Rangers inability to clear the puck and getting traffic around Igor Shesterkin to create off second chances. It was the second straight game without Niko Mikkola, and the forward lines were shifted as Eetu Luostarinen was placed on Sam Bennett's line and Carter Verhaeghe was on Anton Lundell's wing. The gamble by Paul Maurice sparked the Cats offense on the evening early on. Although had multiple leads, they never found themselves trailing on Monday night as Jesper Boqvist scored two go-ahead goals, including the game winner that was assisted by his brother Adam Boqvist. Game was over after the first 17 minutes where the Lightning got their chances off the rush. The main story of Monday night was a knee-on-knee collision from Nikita Kucherov on Matthew Tkachuk just before the first period ended. Kucherov was assessed a five-minute major and a game misconduct. Tkachuk was able to return to the game 2 minutes into the second period, but that was not the first of the Panthers players getting banged up as Carter Verhaeghe and AJ Greer were hobbled after delivered some hard checks. Niko Mikkola also missed the entirety of the third period on Monday. Mackie Samoskevich got on the scoresheet after the Wild failed to connected on a stretch pass, the Cats countered and Samoskevich picked the corner for his sixth of the season. The Panthers were starting to gain control of the game, and we saw signs even when a goal was disallowed due to offside, Florida had the puck in the Wild end of over a minute, but they would not be denied a few minutes later as Matthew Tkachuk not only scored once, but twice (once on the PP). The Cats shut it down in the third period and added two more goals of their own, including one that resulted in N
