Episode 79| INTENTION| 3 Steps to Transform Negative Thoughts
12/06/2017 Duração: 07minIf your negative thoughts are hurting your outlook, here are some positivity-grabbing tips to consider: Be a detective. Consider the evidence. For instance, if you interviewed for a job and are certain you failed at your first impression, consider the evidence. Were you polite, on time, and presentable? Were you informative and appropriate? Did your skill set seem to match what they were looking for? If so, congratulations. You interviewed well and it is now in someone else’s hands. Allowing negativity to run rampant is not helping, and it won’t prepare you for a second interview. Consider alternatives. You’ve interviewed and they haven’t responded yet. Consider the possibilities: they are still interviewing candidates, they are awaiting approval to hire you, they are never going to call you because your interview was awful, and they may call tomorrow. Each possibility has its own voice and perspective, some negative and some positive. Learning to articulate alternatives helps to mold possible positive thou

Episode 77| INTENTION| 3 Simple Ways to Strengthen Your Relationships
31/05/2017 Duração: 04minHaving strong relationships is one of the predicators of wellness, happiness, and longevity. And our connections flourish when we take time to get to know ourselves, and others, better. Here are three ways to strengthen the relationships you have, and nourish the ones that might need some work: 1) Be kind Kindness is like a magnet. People like to be around others who are kind because they feel cared about and safe with them. The age-old Golden Rule, “Do unto others as you would want them to do to you” still rings true today. It’s also reciprocal. When we practice being kind not only do we feel better, but we help others feel good, too. And this just increases opportunities for positive connections throughout our day, which, in turn, contributes to our own health and well-being. 2) Identify Nourishing (and Depleting) Relationships Take an inventory of your relationships to a get a sense for who’s nourishing you and who’s depleting you. See if you can spend more time with the nourishing people make stronger

Episode 75| INTENTION| How to Avoid Being Passive Aggressive with your Partner
24/05/2017 Duração: 08minWhat to do in the heat of the moment , When passive aggression emerges in the middle of a conflict, here are seven steps to take. 1. Chill out. Attempting to begin a dialogue when one or both of you are in a very negative head space will cause the person who behaves passive-aggressively to shut down or to escalate the situation. Take a minute to chill out and calm down before approaching each other and the issue 2. Talk it out. Don’t try to guess or assume you know what your partner is feeling or thinking. Instead, ask your partner how he or she feels. 3. Brainstorm. The work of being in a successful relationship takes two people. As often as possible, come up with ideas for solutions to your issues together. Make your list of options as long and as wide-ranging as possible. 4. List pros and cons. Once you’ve finished brainstorming a list of possible solutions, talk through the pros and cons of each idea on the list. 5. Win-win. The best solution is the one where both of you win the most and lose the least. 6

Episode 73| INTENTION| 5 Ways to Kick Bad Habits
17/05/2017 Duração: 12min1. It’s your brain. Bad Habits is simply what our brains do. They’re designed to create neural pathways that provide the best results. So, when a desire triggers a reaction that in turn satisfies that initial urge, the brain takes note. The next time that desire arises, the brain calls up the circuitry that got the job done before. When an urge is satisfied—whether for soothing, attention, or any other response—we experience a rush of dopamine, the neurochemical associated with feeling good. After a few blasts of dopamine, we start to crave more, which then drives us to indulge in the triggering behavior, be it eating fast food, checking your phone, or lighting up a cigarette. Voila! You have a habit. 2. Will, want, won’t Recognizing bad habits —the trigger, the impulse, the brain’s learned way to satisfy that need—is just part of the process of unwinding them. There also needs to be an intention to do things differently, tied to something that deeply matters to you. 3. Remember HALT When you get clear o

Start by exhaling deeply, which is the key to calming the nervous system. 3) Take a baby step. Break the behavior you are avoiding doing into an action step so small that it no longer feels worth resisting. I’m going to go meditate for three minutes. I know I have three minutes, and that doesn’t feel so scary, after all. Episode 59| How to Break Bad Habits in your Relationships with Rosie Acosta
03/04/2017 Duração: 07minWhen we inquire within to identify the source of our reactivity, then share it with our partner, we begin to break free from old, conditioned patterns of behavior that no longer serve us or our relationship. The four most common strategies that most people rely on when they feel threatened are to: Attack Defend Pursue Withdraw Dismantling these kneejerk reactions is a courageous process that requires both self-awareness and self-disclosure, but the results are transformational, Taylor says. The key is to focus on your own experience, without blaming or criticizing your partner. Ask Yourself: What’s Getting Triggered? In other words: Be mindful: Does this response feel familiar to me from childhood or previous relationships? Where might I have learned it and what can I learn from it now? Knowing this, how do I want to respond to my partner? For example, if one partner goes ballistic when her beloved is five minutes late, instead of screaming at him and calling a thoughtless jerk, she might stop to explore
