Fam, Thanks for joining us this week. We discuss safe spaces and what actually constitutes one. Life can be difficult for those of us in any "minority" group. During this time, we are facing increasing violence and hatred. There are people who feel free to let the hatred fly. So, of course, we seek safe spaces. Places where we can be ourselves are sometimes few, depending upon where you live. The question that some find themselves asking is, "Are there really any safe spaces?"  By now, many of you may have heard about the middle school teacher who is also a white nationalist. Hey Fam, It's that time again! We are so happy to deliver a new episode. The news gods have been good to us. The "Shock Report" has become one of our favorite parts of the show. We are making every attempt to improve the show in it's entertainment value as well as spiritual and newsworthy stories. In this show we discuss Pennsylvania pastor George Gregory, who was caught in the back seat with a nude man bound with rope sitting in the front seat. How many times has this same story played out? When will you learn? There is a 12 year old trans gender fluid athlete that has been kicked off of the boy's football and basketball teams. Hey Fam, We are so glad to be back! It has been a long time. We took a holiday break which became longer due to illness. So let's get to it. This week's episode contains another Shock Report. We discuss a 15 year old's statement that Jay-Z doesn't speak for all black people. Well, we agree on that point. However, there are some points that this young man just did not get. We also discuss the violence that is being directed towards those in the LGBTQ community. Unfortunately, most of these are still not called what they are...hate crimes. The final story is a poll that was taken by M.T. regarding the reasons people have left the church. For those who listen to the show, there is a point when we are holding up signs. Fam, First, let me say how thankful we are that you are still here! We appreciate our listeners more than you know.  Now, this episode has two major points. First, Dan Savage was asked a question by a listener: "Why won't gay guys date me?" The answer lies in his statement. He is FTM without the surgery or hormones. So, he still presents as female and sometimes wears feminine clothing. So I ask: By this description, would a gay man date this person? My answer is no. MT tried to figure it out. This is quite the dilemma. Second, has anyone heard of Wes Goodman? He called himself the conscience of the conservative movement. He was anti-abortion, anti-LGBTQ, and a proponent of "natural marriage." Well, what he was caught doing would be in his own words, "unnatural." Hi Fam, Let's face it. We all reach a point in life when we must be honest with ourselves about decisions that we have made. Usually at this point, these are decisions that we regret. It is often difficult to admit when we have made poor choices, but it is necessary. Without facing those decisions, we often repeat them. They must be faced in order to glean the wisdom provided by the pain, shame and sometimes difficulties experienced. This week I flew solo because M.T. had a couple of cuties to visit. Yep, twin boys! It was a different vibe and I hope that you enjoy it. If any of you remember Al Reynolds, then you will understand why I spoke about him on this show. I also entertained myself with my favorite Trump Regrets retweets. So, thanks for hanging in there with us as we continue to provide informative and hopefully fun shows. Hey Fam, Lets be honest. Things seem to be getting out of hand in America these days. Much of the country is divided and it seems as if it's going to be difficult to get us back together.  The truth is, when the oppressed speak out against the oppressor, they run the risk of losing something. It is evident wherever we look. When we speak, we speak from the hand that was dealt. We are those brown people that many seem to dislike these days. We are members of the LGBTQIA community that seem to be losing favor again. We are female and part of the #metoo community.  I say all of that to make one thing perfectly clear...we will speak out. If you are offended, that's too bad. We have been offended, hurt and left out for far too long. We have voices and they will be used. We hope that everyone will continue to listen. Hey Fam, We are currently experiencing one of the worst political climates that I have ever known. I'm certain that there have been worse, so I will count this current administration among them.  Just when you think you've heard  and seen it all, 45 does something more stupid than the minute before. Now we have to concern ourselves with how Jeff Session's DOJ is going to allow the Religious Freedom Restoration Act to be used. But honestly, we already know. Hello Fam, Question? How do you feel about raising gender neutral children? The Federalist has an article that says "liberals are now trying to liberate boys from boyhood." I don't see it like that. I wonder if the parents are not pushing their views onto their children. We understand that parents don't want their children being told which toys they are "supposed" to like and play with. So, I am on the fence. What do you think? This of course leads to discussing how we grew up and some of the missed opportunities that occurred because of our gender...AND what other people could not wrap their brains around. Hey Fam, This episode is about diversity. It is about reaching out to those unlike us. Diversity requires us to be open to differences. We in the LGBTQ community need to live up to who we say we are. We need to take chances. Risk requires courage but without risk there is no reward. Stepping out of our comfort zone, provides the opportunity to learn that we all want the same thing. We have the same needs and desires. We want our families to remain intact. We want our children to be successful.  Personally M.T. and I both have diverse friends. I always have and it is so important to my growth and being able to relate to those who are different than I. Learning other cultures helps us to know one another. In order to do this, you must be able to get out cha self!  Let's be comfortable enough in our skin to allow people to be themselves. Hey Fam, The title of this show sounds like the beginning of a bad joke. I have to tell you that right now, what is going on in our country feels like a bad joke. It's like we woke up in a very bad B-movie and can't leave the theater. So, on this show we discuss racism within the LGBTQ community. Hey Fam, With everything going on, so many have started predicting the end of the world again. The weather is funny, there are wars and rumors of wars and of course, there is always us...the LGBTQ community to blame for it all. This show is regarding the religious attack on the LGBTQ community. As well as the pressure that we face in our attempt to establish and maintain a relationship with God. Now, if you are not a believer, then this does not apply but hopefully, you will stay tuned in. The struggle is real and it never stops. Even when some have stopped going to church, they still battle with the feelings of their family and the thought that they are disappointments. I know that there are many shows on this subject, but it seems as if when we are trying to be that, others have issues with it. Hey Fam, Has someone ever asked you a stupid question? Of course! But has that question been so stupid that there was no answer? That is what happened to U First founder Erica Wright. What do you do when you are helping those who cannot help themselves and someone asks the dumbest question: "How can you help the homeless with you being gay?" What does her sexuality have to do with her ability to help others? NOTHING!  We also discuss #BlackLivesMatter and their protest against the San Francisco Pride organizers and the increased police presence. If you did not hear about it, now is the time. Seattle has been in the news for a horrible situation. The police shot and killed a black woman who was pregnant after she called them about a burglary. However, that is not what we discussed. We discuss liberalism and how it is not as it appears in the Seattle area. These things cannot continue to be ignored, if we are to move forward. Hey Fam, This past weekend was Pride Weekend in Kansas City. As usual we had a great time, despite the heat. We enjoyed the acts but to be honest I enjoyed my Tiger's Blood shave ice best of all. Did I say it was HOT! Anyway, we made our way through the tents and had some great conversations with different church and organizational representatives. There was also a gentleman who tried to sell us a taser. I almost bought one. During this show, we discuss Pride and politics. There is also a new passenger on the A-Train to Hell. Hey Fam, We are so thankful to have reached our third year with Just My Opinion. So many times we wonder how we are doing and it's a blessing to have gotten here. We hope that we can continue to grow and make a change in how people view our community. In this show we discuss the House of Representatives version of the new healthcare bill. We focused on the pre-existing conditions clause because we both have them, as well as many other Americans. The fact is that if states are given the option to cover us or opt out, what do you think they will do. We give examples of what has happened to us regarding our medical conditions and insurance. M.T. discusses the economic status of the LGBTQ community in comparison to the heterosexual community. It's obvious that there is some tomfoolery going on. Fam, Simply put, President Donald J. Trump is a liar and M.T. wants to know why. She researched the subject and discovered an article called, "All About Lying."  The article states that the reasons for lying is to avoid punishment and to get something. Another thing is that we want to believe the liar. It is in our psyche to want to believe something that will encourage and help us. In the LGBTQ community we learn to lie to cover who we are. What we learn as we grow is that deep down lies make us sick. How many can deny that they felt better when they finally accepted who they were and could to be honest about it?  Unfortunately, lies are a part of our lives. Hey Fam, This show asked the question: Are we playing roles in our relationships that coincide with the stereotypical heterosexual roles that some of us saw growing up?There is an article in the guardian that is written by Arwa Mahsawi, who is in a same-sex relationship, in which she asked herself the questions posed by a study presented at the Annual Meeting of the American Sociological Association.
