2 Timothy 4:1-8 - Speaker: Lukus Counterman - In the final chapter of 2 Timothy, Paul gives parting words to his friend. He tells Timothy, “preach the Word.” As the time of his death draws near, the apostle wants to underscore the importance of preaching. If the good news is going to be transmitted to the next generation, it needs to be proclaimed. For “how will they hear without a preacher” (Romans 10:14). Though preaching has fallen on hard times these days, it is God’s intended means of heralding his Word. So may we find fresh resolve to support and uphold sound, biblical preaching.

Psalm 16 - Speaker: Joe Skinner - No one wants to die, and as much as we try to avoid it, death is inevitable. This is the reality that David faced too. Throughout his life, the trials he faced taught him one invaluable lesson. That only God can preserve his life. In this Psalm, David responds to who God is and what he does by praising Him for his Salvation, and calls us to do the same.

Luke 14:7-14 - Speaker: Jotham Manoranjan - Today, we will be dwelling on the theme of “Humility in Community.” Jesus is at a Pharisees’ house, and he “noticed” something. In response to what he sees, he teaches two parables that present an opportunity for individuals to boost their social status. Jesus reminds us that “everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.” Exploring these parables, we will identify what humility is and how one pursues it. We will also see how genuine humility impacts our relationships.

James 1:2-4 - Speaker: Jon Kopp - This study discusses some of the most confusing and disorienting times in the Christian life--times when we face difficulty and opposition. Why do you think those times are so confusing and disorienting for us? Often it is because we face those times with more questions than we do answers. While God doesn’t give us His word to answer all of our questions about suffering, he also doesn’t want us to be confused or discouraged either. Here’s what God’s word does. It tells us things we can know about suffering so that we can trust God when there are the things we don’t know.

2 Timothy 3:10-17 - Speaker: Lukus Counterman - This letter of 2Timothy is Paul’s final epistle. Church historians suggest that he was in the Mamertine Prison in Rome when he wrote this. We know that Paul was nearing his death from what he says in (4:6), “the time of my departure has come.” So as the church moved from the apostolic to the post-apostolic era, Paul was burdened that Timothy would carry on the faith, the good deposit entrusted to him. But the situation in Ephesus was anything but ideal. The church was unhealthy and evil and error abounded. So, in 2 Timothy 3, Paul calls out wicked people in no uncertain terms. Then he assures Timothy that they wouldn’t get very far and that their folly would eventually be exposed. Finally, he turns to Timothy and basically says, “In spite of all the false teaching, moral decline, empty religion, and corruption – you need to stand in stark contrast. Don’t give in to the pervasive atmosphere of wickedness. Don’t conform to the pressure of evil and error. You can m

Additionally, we will analyze Christianity in comparison to these viewpoints and uncover the distinctive teachings of Christianity that offer encouragement to those experiencing suffering.
