In this teaching we explore ways we can bring gospel influence in our cultural moment. As Christians we follow a Savior who suffered, so we must expect to suffer. How do we respond when we find ourselves in those difficult spaces? In this teaching, Jesus shows us the way of influence.

In Matthew 5:1-12 Jesus invites us to live into a way of living called The Beatitudes. He calls us into a life of true blessedness. The Beatitudes are an invitation from Jesus the prophet and sage into a way of being in the world that results in true human flourishing now and the age to come.

The Sermon on the Mount is more than a sermon, it’s an invitation to flourish. It’s a vision and a way of being inside the kingdom of God. It’s an invitation to take Jesus seriously.

2020 is coming to an end and who knows what 2021 will bring but I think we can all agree its been a bruising and difficult year. Perhaps this year, more than ever, you need no convincing that the world is not right. You can’t really long for the better world Jesus promises until you admit the messed up parts of this one. Advent is a chance to do this. The word “advent” means “the arrival.” In advent we wait for the arrival of Jesus not as a baby but as judge who will come to make all things new…the one who will restore our humanity. Advent is an invitation for you to slow down and reorient hope around Christ.
