Medjugorje is located in the Balkans, an area where for centuries, different cultures met and overlapped and it must be understood in context with this region of the world. This area is the "pointy edge of the sword" for humanity. The Balkans are a place where some people held fast onto their cultural and religious values and fought and died in support of their beliefs. It is a place where over the centuries; others simply followed what the rulers of the day dictated. In this installment, the cold war actions on the world stage were captured in Time Magazine’s famous 1966 proclamation that “God is Dead.” In the USA in particular it became an often-debated question for humanity during those times of tremendous social upheaval as the 1960’s are well remembered for. Fear by the parents for the safety of their children grew as the day for the final appearance of the Virgin Mary came.
