On a trip to Paris, I went to “Our Lady of Victory.” This magnificent Basilica is where the Virgin Mary is said have been instrumental in numerous miracles for pilgrims over many, many years. Pilgrims have left over 37,000 plaques of gratitude that adorn the entire sanctuary in thanks to the Madonna for her help.   There are links, photos and more about this on my website. Venerable Father Nelson Baker, dedicated his life to helping others and had a total trust in the Virgin Mary. Together they built the amazing Our Lady of Victory Basilica in Buffalo, N.Y. He gave to everyone who came there and in addition to being considered for Sainthood, Father Baker would always say, "The Blessed Mother Did It All." This podcast episode of Constant Procession is about St William and the Black Madonna of Montevergine. The Virgin Mary apparated to St. William, a Benedictine monk during his pilgrimage to the Holy Land. She tasked him to stop his trek, and build the “Most Holy Mother of God Monastery” on the side of a steep mountain north of present-day Naples, Italy back in the 12th century. How could he or any other humans predict this monastery would become the fortress that protected St Lukes’ “Black Madonna” and the “Shroud of Turin” from the clutches of Hitler during WWII? The “Queen of Heaven" apperated three times to Adele Brice in Green Bay, Wisconsin in October, 1859. During the early times at the mission, they would receive amazing and continuous answers to prayers (large and small) in support of the work this seer was tasked to do. The "least" being an answer to urgent and intense prayers of the Rosary to the Madonna to protect the orphans as a raging fire that had encircled the beleagured orphanage and grounds were answered and the entire compound was spared. The realities of getting around an apparition site in a different country is explored in this week’s podcast. I visited the “Our Lady of Guadalupe” apparition site in Mexico City a number of years ago now. Recalling my experience in today’s podcast, specifically getting there and also walking up “Tepeyac Hill” becomes more vivid as the years go by. The actual experience is a paradox of inspiration, research, detailed planning, speculation, unexpected challenges, insecurity, confidence, blind faith and timing melded together, in an amalgamation of reward and relief, tension and finally peace. My desire to see and walk the grounds where the Virgin Mary appeared to St Juan Diego over 500 years ago just came to my attention out of the blue (as have all my other tours to various apparition sites in the world.)  And sharing those travels with my lovely wife who has now transitioned to Heaven makes all those investments of time during life more meaningful with each passing day… My take away for this one is the rewar

Part 17- This is the seventeenth and final installment of my first book “The Constant Procession.” Listen from the beginning- Episode 409- Part 1 NOTE: These final chapters were written before the current war between the Ukraine and Russia broke out. The time period I wrote about began in 1922 when the Ukraine was totally controlled by the USSR. In 1991, the USSR broke into the numerous independent countries that included the Ukraine. Russia became the most powerful country in the region and this distinction continues today.   Chapter 28 continues to describe this earlier time period when Ukrainian churches were under siege during the times of the USSR’s religious suppression. However, it was Ukrainian Immigrants to North America who kept them going during this suppression. The final chapter is about apparition sites where the Virgin Mary has appeared.
