Sara Landry hailing from Texas has been soaring through the industrial techno scene within the last couple of years. Sara has nailed down a clean-cut yet raw techno sound that’s become symbolic with parties such as Possession and Raw. 2021 saw Sara take her climb up the spectrum of the techno community to new heights, starting the year off with a bang as she released an EP with French heavyweights Raw, with Nico Moreno on remix duties. Following on from this Sara released a mammoth EP with Techno Germany that came with great acclaim. Our first local selection mix of the year comes from one of Ireland’s most prolific DJ’s & producers, Nathan Jones aka, Snakebite 616. The Dublin native has pieced together a blend of jackin’ & menacing techno rhythms, from bonafide techno anthems to niche grooves. Only a trickle of techno selectors in Ireland have a resume that comes even close to Snakebite 616’s fka Nathan Jones. The seasoned selector has held his own alongside Jeff Mills, DJ Pete, Ben Ufo, Blawan, Chris Libeing, Cari Lekebusch, Shifted and a many more, as well as holding it down in Berlin and The UK on numerous occasions, once again on immense lineups. We’re thrilled to resume the normal service of our Four Four premiere’s for 2022. Starting the year with a bang, as our first premiere is a stellar techno tool, from Cork DJ & producer, Hooligan. Liam Chambers aka HOOLIGAN is a DJ and producer hailing from Cork. His approach to techno reflects images and soundscapes of the dark basements of Berlin, his love for rolling basslines and heavy hypnotic grooves, ultimately blending the old with the new. The Cork native has been working hard to perfect his production style taking inspiration from the raw, driving sounds produced by techno legends such as Chris Liebing, Kaiser and The Advent. Liam also plays in the techno duo ‘Southern Division’ who have been garnering a name from themselves in recent times through clinical mixing skills. Our first premiere of the week is a double header from the Rebel county, as two of Ireland’s most promising techno act’s team up for a cracking release in aid of Pieta House. We premiere David O’Neils, impressive broken spin on FYuN’s, ‘Untitled’ track. 2021 has seen numerous collaborations between Irish artists, this time FYuN, David O’Neil & Offtrack step up for a great cause as they serve up some great techno. FYuN has organised an EP for charity that consists of an original entitled ‘Untitled’ and two remixes from Dave O’Neil and Offtrack. The trio of producers, went deep and created an intricate EP ranging through different styles of techno. This EP was put together in order to raise funds for Pieta House. Pieta house is a nonprofit organisation who relies on the public for 80% of their funding. They offer free services to those with suicidal ideation, those engaging in self-harm and those bereaved by suicide. Keith Carnal returns to his Second Degree label with an impressive four track EP, encompassing a hypnotic & atmospheric sound, but at a higher tempo. Keith Carnal has been pushing out high octane techno records for the last decade, featuring on labels such as Arts & Bpitch, Keith has assembled an impressive discography. The Amsterdam producer has found himself remixing for industry titan’s such as Ellen Alien, CJ Bolland & more. Carnal also helms his Second Degree imprint, launched in late 2018 and home to his own solo material. DJ RIPT AKA James Ackerman was introduced to the club scene as a youth. Our Global Mix series returns with one of our favourite techno selectors at the moment, Dinamite. The Berlin based DJ has been cutting her teeth in the techno scene for the last decade through a residency in Tresor & her much applauded imprint, Onna Bushi Records. I stumbled across Dinamite last year through her newly formed label, Onna Bushi Records. From here I began to see to her name more frequently through appearances on Hör Berlin and guest mixes for likes of Pole Group & Oecus. Later I shared a lineup with Dinamite in Berlin and got to experience her powerful and dynamic techno sound up close & personal. The Spanish native has been residing in the capital of techno, Berlin for the last decade. Her move to Berlin has seen her gain a residency in the epicentre of techno, Tresor as well as become part of the revered Oecus team which is home to many of techno’s brightest rising stars. We premiere a track from techno legend today, Paul Birken. Birken has put together an analogue techno bomb for Gombocs first release on wax. Paul Birken has been putting out wonky techno classic’s for the best part of 25 years. Release’s such as ‘Speaker Freakin” & ‘Surfin’ Superior’ helped launch his 12 inches into the hands of some of techno’s most coveted and technical DJ’s. Paul still receives heavy support from the likes of Sunil Sharpe, Jerome Hill & Bas Mooy. More recent releases on ‘Mord’, ‘Earwiggle’ & ‘Don’t’ have helped solidify Birken’s name to a newer generation. Following on from an EP on his imprint, Undivided, the Dublin producer returns to Four Four Mag with a stellar hour of techno. The young producer has been on a great run lately after making his Index debut & hosting his debut party in Bow Lane. The Donabate native has also received support from some of techno’s finest up & comers in recent times with artists such as Marron, Alarico, TWR72 & more playing out his music. PageOne has been cementing his name as one of the fastest rising youngsters in techno in Ireland today! Solidifying a signature sound so early in his career which is, minimal, pacey and groovy. For our first premiere of the week, we present a pumping house track from Galway's, Dave Era. Straight to the point dance-floor business from the Galway native. Dave Era aka David Shortt is a DJ/Producer from Galway. He co-owns Devoid, a collective based in Galway, and is a resident of A Collective based in Athlone. Over the last few years David has developed his sound, bringing a fresh take to his music, bringing elements of classic house and techno to life across uplifting melodies, breaks, stabs and straight 909 power. We premiere his latest track ‘It’s Like That‘, which Dave will be uploading to his Bandcamp. The track is reminiscent of older jacking house with touches of the UK rave scene. To round off a fantastic week of techno premieres, we present German techno boss, Denise Rabe’s remix of Alexander Kowalski under his DISX3 alias. This comes as part of an outstanding EP on one of our favourite label’s, Out Of Place. Denise Rabe and Alexander Kowalski, was always going to be a perfect pairing. Denise has been putting out top-tier 12 inches since 2015, having released on labels such as Arts, Blacklabel Distillery & her own imprint ‘Rabe’. Each record tells a story that’s somewhat undecipherable, atmospheric and trippy. Record’s that aren’t made to be understood but made to feel and her flip of techno stalwart Alexander Kowalski, does just that. Denise Rabe’s remix flip’s Kowalski’s acid fuelled original, into more subtle terrority with a variety of deep, atmospheric, trippy but yet driving sounds with a fantastic breakey feel to it. We have the great pleasure of premiering a track from of one techno’s most instrumental figures, Robert Hood under his Monobox alias. This comes as part of Regenerate album which is due for release tomorrow on his infamous imprint, M-Plant. Robert Hood began his Monobox alias in 1996 and has since released an album and various EP’s under the monarch. Today we premiere the track ‘Blackwater Canal’ which comes as part of his seven track album which features classic minimal grooves from the proclaimed founder of minimal techno. Robert Hood: “Monobox was an alien project. I read this book when I was probably around 13 or 14. It was this ominous black box that came from some other universe, and it was just sort of hovering over the planet, over a cornfield somewhere.” For the return of Monobox, Hood has envisaged that the vessel has been lying dormant for 40 or 50 years and is now beginning to rise up again, or regenerate. Our 55th mix in our ever-growing Global Mix series this week comes from a collective, rather than the usual touring or emerging artists. Today we're buzzed to welcome 3 of Scotland's soundest promoters and party starters, ALL U NEED to our hot seat, as they provide us with a whopping 4 hours 30 mins mix of club heat, recorded live from Subclub, in Glasgow on Halloween night. The Glasgow based collective, made up of Alex Dobie, Zander Coulter and Graham Brown, first came onto our radar back in 2019, whilst we worked on a sold out KETTAMA club show in Glasgow's huge SWG3 venue. Upon visiting Glasgow and attending their party, the crew, not only excellent hosts and party throwers, we got to experience first hand their tight mixing skills really and absolute fun taste in tunes. ALL U NEED has been a constant for 7 years, set up by a group of friends getting to do what they love week in, week out. Our second premiere of the week, comes from one of the most in demand producers and DJ’s in techno right now, Hadone. The French based producer has delivered a clean cut, rhythmic, catchy and melodic dance floor weapon, that’s been beautifully all rolled up into just over six minutes. The prolific producer has delivered the goods once again. Having made some of the biggest techno hits of the last few years, he puts his Hadone trademark on yet another project.
