Both Muslims & Romans fought a battle as fierce as Yarmook… (Tabree). Ar-Thaboon flees to Jerusalem and knows only the one with the attributes of Umar (ra) can liberate the city, to fulfil the prophecy of the Scriptures… 'Rejoice O Jerusalem! Al Farooq (ra) will come to you and cleanse you' (Tabri,Tareekh).  Umar (ra) is described as a strong safe castle, Uthmaan (ra) as a pious soul, Alee (ra) like rust on a sword (Abu Dawud).

Amr ibn Al-Aas (ra), Session 49 The Fox of The Arabs  Amr (ra) praises of The Romans. They are called Al Room after Al Asfar ibn Al Room ibn Aysoo ibn Ishaaq (as) ibn Prophet Ibraheem (as) (Qurtobi). ‘When words will emerge and actions become buried languages will change (Tabarani). Amr ibn Al-Aas (ra), Session 47 The Fox of The Arabs  The Battle of Yarmook The Wall of Khalid (ra) & his Men Day 6, The Day of Raging Conflagration The Armenians disintegrate due to a 3 pronged attack, Khalid (ra) does not pursue those who flee. The fleeing Romans labour up a road on the western bank of a ravine. At the top, the Romans see a lean young warrior naked above the waist, Dhirar (ra). Yet the Romans refuse to surrender. It was dark when the Romans finally ceased to move. The next day Khalid (ra) pursues Vahan, Jabla escapes and eventually embraces the faith. An elderly man explains the defeat to Heraclius, 'They stand in Salah at night and Fast all day, they fulfill their promises, they enjoin the good and forbid the evil and are just towards each other. Quran Class Surah Noor 24 v13-23 Session 10 The Slander Whoever attacks Ayesha (raa) has opposed the Quran. Qadhee Abu Bakr ibn Th-Thay was sent by the muslims to the Christian King in Constatinople. He said, 2 women were falsely accused of adultery... Mariam & Ayesha (raa) Mariam (raa) appeared carrying a child whilst having no husband Ayesha did not have a child but had a husband. Hence the case of the latter is clearer than the former. Alee (ra) says, 'The one who speak indecent words then spreads them are alike in sin' (Baihaqi). During a pause in Shrahbeel's (ra) sector, Khalid (ra) suddenly appeared to be deeply worried. Khalid (ra) gives his men orders to look for a red cap which he had dropped whilst engaged in battle, the cap was found. Khalid (ra) relates, 'Whenever I engage in battle with the sacred hair with me, I'm always granted victory' (Tabarani). Amr ibn Al-Aas (ra), Session 42 The Fox of The Arabs  The Battle of Yarmook Day 4, The Day of The Lost Eyes, Decapitated Heads and Severed hands. The battle became vicious, the Armenians broke falling back to their original position, losing many lives. The Christian Arabs proved the heaviest losses. Meanwhile an equally critical and more fierce battle was being fought on the left side of the muslim front... The army reserve was heavily committed on the right and could do nothing to help Abu Obayda & Yazid (raa) - they were on their own! 'Arrows like hailstones which blocked the light of the sun' Around 700 muslims lost an eye, hence the title, The Day of The Lost Eyes Ikrimah (ra) from the War Tribe Banu Makhzum takes The Pledge of Death along with 400 leading Muslims & riders, to the dismay of Khalid (ra). Again, Hind and other women Khawlah, Umm Hakim (raa) encourage the men.

Amr ibn Al-Aas (ra), Session 41 The Fox of The Arabs  The Battle of Yarmook Day 3, The Assault upon the Muslim Right Forces Gregory's Wing of Chains made no moves this day as it had suffered the previous day. The Roman centre of the Armenians and the wing of the Russians and Slaaav struck with extreme severity at the Muslim Cenrral Right - Shurahbeel & Amr (raa). Khalid (ra) launches his cavalry reserve against the Wing of QanaTheer. Roman losses far outnumbered those of the Muslims, thus their plan failed. Day 4, The Day of The Lost Eyes, Decapitated Heads & Severed hands. This day proves decisive. Khaid's (ra) counter offensive could finally be launched. Now begins a Three pronged counter attack against the Armenians and Christian Arabs, Khalid strikes from the right, Qays from the left & Shurahbeel (raa) from the front.

Amr ibn Al-Aas (ra), Session 40 The Fox of The Arabs  The Battle of Yarmook Day 2 - The Assaulting of The Wings Attack begins at the break of dawn. The Romans plan now was the 2 Central European armies (Dairjan) would be put into holding attacks to tie down the Muslim Centres Abu Obaydah & Shurahbel (raa) whilst the 2 wings would launch their major thrusts and either drive their Muslim counterparts off the battlefield or push them into the centre. Hind (raa) along with other women urge the men who have been pushed back to camp to re-engage in battle.

Amr ibn Al-Aas (ra), Session 39 The Fox of The Arabs  The Battle of Yarmook Day 1, The Day of Probing After the dawn prayer every man rushed to his assigned post. Both forces faced each other a little less than a mile apart. A Roman General suddenly emergered seeking Khalid (ra), Jarja embraces the faith and was martyed the same day (Al Bidaayah). Duels begin and honours are for the fallen Abdur Rehman ibn Abu Bakr (ra).

Amr ibn Al-Aas (ra), Session 38 The Fox of The Arabs  The Plains of Yarmook Vahan realises battle is inevitable, so sends a probing attack to Khalid (ra). For almost a month, there was no major action on the Plain of Yarmook, this was beneficial for the faithfull as 6,000 men arrived to join them, most from Yemen. In total, 1,000 Sahaba, 100 which are Badri's and 2 of the promised 10, Zubair & Abu Obaydah (raa). Again Vahan offers peace talks and offers gifts to all the muslims, thinking that hardship and hunger brought them to Yarmook. A bemused Khalid (ra) responds, we are a people who drink blood and we heard the blood of the Romans is tasty.... (Al Bidaayah). Battle formation takes place. The Romans prepared a 12 mile front! The oft repeated verse Surah 2 v249, 'How many a small group has defeated a large group...'

Amr ibn Al-Aas (ra), Session 37 The Fox of The Arabs  The Plains of Yarmuk Heraculis gathers 150,000 men from Russia,Slaavs, Franks, Romans, Greeks, Georgians, Armenians and Christian Arabs (Waaqidee). Vahan is Commander in Chief; with QanaaTheer, Gregor, Dairjan & Jabla ibn Al Ayham. The Faithful were split into 4 Groups Amr, Shurahbeel, Yazeed & Abu Obaydah (raa), their withdrawal to Jaabiyah was ordered. The Romans appear like a swarm of locusts (Waaqidee)

Amr ibn Al-Aas (ra), Session 36 The Fox of The Arabs  The Battle of Ajnaadayn After the duels, Khalid (ra) orders an attack as the sun passed its zenith. The Romans, namely Waradaan plots to execute Khalid (ra); David a Roman saves himself; Dhirar (ra) dons Roman clothes. Waradaan plot fails miserably and pays the ultimate price as Dhirar (ra) emerges. Hisham (ra), the brother of Amr (ra) is martyed.

Amr ibn Al-Aas (ra), Session 35 The Fox of The Arabs  The Battle of Ajnaadayn The camp of the Faithful stands at 32,000. The Roman camp, 90,000. Khalid (ra) addresses his men. Dhirar (ra) is sent on a reconassiance mission, he is soon detected and 30 Romans pursued him, 19 fell at the hands of Dhirar (ra). A Christian spy infiltrated the ranks of the muslims, he later reports, 'By night they are monks and by day warriors.' Qubuqular replies, If what you say be true, it would then be now better to be in the belly of the earth than to meet such a people upon its surface! The faithful are deployed with a centre and 2 strong wings. Khalid stays in the centre with Amr, Ibn Umar, Dhirara & Rafi (raa). The Bishop with a black hat approaches to speak with Khalid (ra). Dhirar (ra) duels with the Romans.

Amr ibn Al-Aas (ra), Session 34 The Fox of The Arabs  Al Heera to Shaam The similarity between Tabuk and The Perilous March. Khalid (ra) intends to join his brothers in Sham, but must avoid The Roman Garrison. Raafi ibn Umayrah aTh-Thaay (ra) suggests to walk through the Syrian desert as this is the only route. It's June and it's the peak of the heat. The first 3 unrelenting heat soaked days passed uneventfully and the mandatory prayers continued. The prayer alone in the desert is virtuous by the magnitude of 50. Their water was meant to last for 5 days but finished by the end of day 3. Day 4, the column resumed the march, conversations had now ceased, they camped and slept not. Agony in their throats, they could only repeat in their minds, Surah 3 v173, Sufficient for us is Allah SWT. Day 5 The column formation was no longer neat and Rafi (ra) could no longer see.

Quran Class Surah Nur 24 v11- Session 8 Ayesha (raa) & The Slander Verses are revelaed declaring the innocence of Ayesha (raa). Abu Bakr (ra) says to Ayesha (raa).. Which sky will provide me with shelter and which earth would bear me If I utter something I have no knowledge of? (Tabaree). Abu Bakr (ra) slips outside The Spiritual Perfection for a moment and verses are revelaed. Zaynab's marriage and Ayesha's (raa) innocence was declared in the heavens.

Amr ibn Al-Aas (ra), Session 33 The Fox of The Arabs  Commands in War Do not kill a young child, a woman or an elderly infirm man. Do not cut down fruit bearing trees or demolish buildings. Do not slaughter a sheep or a camel except for food. Do not drown or burn date palm trees. And do not steal from the war booty or show cowardice. Do not demolish a church (Muwatta). The Prelude to Ajnaadayn Khalid ibn Al Waleed (ra) is summoned! (Tabaree).
