369 - Acts 28:17-31, Part II
14/04/2019Message #369, Acts 28:17-31, "Until The Lord Comes" Part II Sunday, April 14, 2019, Our study of the Acts concludes by examining God's work in developing Christ-like character in the Apostle Paul over thirty plus years. You're invited to consider with us how God accomplished this through opposition, trials, and suffering. Learn how Paul preached the hope of Israel from the Old Testament Scriptures, as seen in Paul's Letter to the Romans. And see how God used the difficult circumstances as an opportunity to declare the Gospel. Our primary study question is: Does God measure success by metrics or by character? (Acts 28:17-31) Related verses: Acts chapter 9, and chapters 13-27 2 Corinthians 11:23-28 John 1:11 Romans 9:1-3; 10:1-3; 11:1, 11, 25 Matthew 5:43-45 Romans 5:8-10 Acts 23:6; 24:15; 26:6-8 Daniel 12:2 Job 19:25-27 Matthew 22:31-32 Acts 26:22-23 1 Corinthians 4:2 Rom 3:10-20; 5:6-8; 10:9-10 Philippians 1:12-14; 4:22 Calvary Chapel Reston Station 1950 Isaac Newton Sq. Acts 28:1-16, Part I
07/04/2019Message #368, Acts 28:1-16, "Until The Lord Comes" Part I Sunday, April 7, 2019, As we begin the final chapter of the Acts of the Apostles, we observe God's fulfillment of His promise to the Apostle Paul to bring him to Rome (Acts 23:11). Paul's journey was full of obstacles, adversity, and delays. And yet throughout the unfolding of God's will, we see opportunity for both trust and discouragment. The first question we will address is: How does an accurate knowledge of God teach us to understand our circumstances? (Acts 28:1-16) Next Sunday, we will answer the question of does God measure success by metrics or by character? (Acts 28:17-31) *Earlier in the message (around 5:14 in the recording), Pastor Sean mentions Jesus being born. This is to be understood within the biblical context of Isaiah 9:6 and John 1:1-14. These passages acknowledge the eternal Son of God, who always existed, and through the miracle of the incarnation and the virgin birth, took on flesh. Related verses: Acts 27:2, 24, 3

31/03/2019Message #367, Acts 27:13-44, "Choice: The Test of Friendship and Faith" Part II Sunday, March 31, 2019, In Acts 27, we see Paul walking in obedience to God and experiencing painful tests and trials along the way. What does God want me to learn of Him and experience with Him during life's difficulties? Join us in studying God's work in the life of the apostle Paul, and be encouraged and equipped with nine life lessons from the text. 366 - Mark 5:21-43
24/03/2019Message #366, Mark 5:21-43, "At the Crossroads of Faith and Suffering" Sunday, March 24, 2019, Pastor Bill Jasan (stoneofhelpministry.org) teaches from Mark 5:21-43 to address the topic of faith and human suffering. God's ways of respnding to our needs can be difficult to receive at times. Can I trust the character of God when I am suffering? Will Jesus respond even when my faith is full of weakness? Study the Scriptures with us to learn God's answers to these questions and more. Related verse: Isaiah 30:18 Calvary Chapel Reston Station 1950 Isaac Newton Sq. 365 - James 3:1-18
10/03/2019Message #365, James 3:1-18, "More Like Jesus, or More Like Me?" Sunday, March 10, 2019, Pastor Josh Akin of GraceBuilt Church (gracebuilt.org) teaches from James chapter three to challenge us to reflect the light of Christ, and use our speech to build up one another. Pastor Josh encourages us from the Scriptures to apply care in both what we say, and how we say what we say. Do my words encourage others to be more like me, or more like Jesus? Do I know the power of a word well spoken? Join us today in James chapter three to hear the Bible's answers to these questions and how to apply these truths to our lives. 364 - Acts 27, Part 1
03/03/2019Message #364, Acts 27, "Choice: The Test of Friendship and Faith" Part 1 Sunday, March 03, 2019, We are approaching the conclusion of the Acts of the Apostles, as we enter into chapter 27. God is making good on His promise to bring the apostle Paul to Rome (Acts 23:11), even through a tremendous storm endured along the way. We will begin to answer two questions with this study, answering the second question in part 2 of the sermon. First question is what is the blessing of choosing to live out Proverbs 17:17? Second question is what does God want me to learn of Him and experience with Him during life's difficulties? 363 - Acts 25-26
24/02/2019Message #363, Acts 25-26, "Proclaiming Light" Sunday, February 24, 2019, We will look at the experience of the Apostle Paul giving testimony of Jesus Christ before several people in positions of power: Governor Felix, King Herod Agrippa II and Bernice, the Roman military commanders, and the prominent men of the city of Caesarea. You're invited to study along with us as we follow the history of God's grace in Caesarea. We'll also look at God's longsuffering mercy in offering the gospel to a member of a family notoriously hostile towards the Lord Jesus Christ and His disciples. The question which we will answer as we study these two chapters is how does God use my current trials to redeem my past and provide me an opportunity to proclaim the gospel? 362 - Acts 24:22-27
17/02/2019Message #362, "A Reasonable Faith" Part 2 Acts 24:22-27 Sunday, February 17, 2019, In this study we will follow God ordering the events of the Apostle Paul's life to give him an opportunity to share about the faith in Christ. We'll consider the twenty plus years where God discipled Paul and how they prepared him to share the Gospel. Our primary question addressed in this study is "How does God use discipleship (being discipled and discipling others) to prepare us to share our faith in Christ?" Then join us as we study the life of the apostle Paul in Acts chapter 24. Our study will focus on the question: How does God lead me through circumstances outside of my control, when I'm tempted to look at God and people through the lens of my emotions, assumptions, and perceptions? 360 - Acts 23:12-35
03/02/2019Message #360, "A Still Small Voice" Acts 23:12-35 Sunday, February 03, 2019, Today we will study God's word to help us better discern God's will and develop Christ-like communications. Our first question in Acts 23:11-22 is how do I discern God's will when I have a promise from His word and no specific instructions? Then we will study three examples in Acts 23:23-35 to answer our second question: Which godly instructions should govern how we speak and how we listen? 27/01/2019Message #359, "Fountains In the Midst of the Valleys" Acts 22:17-23:11 Sunday, January 27, 2019, As we study this portion of Acts, we will answer questions to help us understand God's sovereignty better. Does God know that there will be times when people violently reject our testimony? (Acts 22:17-22) When God takes me from a bad situation into a worse one, what is His expectation of me? (Acts 22:23-23:5) When I do my best, but see no positive results and feel discouraged or afraid, what does Jesus want me to know?
