The Bedford & Sullivan podcast has reached episode 44! For this one, we bring on a man who has as much knowledge of the game of baseball as I have ever come across. Greg Prince has been a Mets fan virtually since he was born in 1962. In 2005, he started a blog titled Faith and Fear in Flushing, which he runs with his blogging partner Jason Fry. He is also a published author of a book with the same FAFIF namesake and a couple volumes of the Happiest Recap. Whether or not you're a Mets fan, Greg's writings are a must-read. He has also adopted the Giants as his "grandfather" team, though his parents were Dodger fans in their youth. To quote Greg: "Though I retroactively revel in the Giants taking it to the Dodgers in 1951 (or anytime), I cherish both branches of the Mets' family tree and recognize we wouldn't be who we are without them both." The Logan family has a long history helping to run the clubhouses of New York Major League Baseball teams. Ed Logan, Jr.'s grandfather was the first Yankee clubhouse manager, and his father, Ed Logan, followed that path and eventually became the Giants clubhouse manager. So, to say Ed Logan, Jr. grew up surrounded by baseball (and sports in general) is an understatement. We will hear stories regarding those Giants baseball teams, his perspective of their rivalry with the Dodgers, and his eventual appointment as the team's bat boy. And so, it is fitting that today we have a man on the show so connected to the Baseball Giants franchise. Peter Magowan was not only their President and Managing General Partner from 1993-2008, but has followed the team ever since growing up off of Central Park on 69th Street in Manhattan. We'll discuss his childhood, heading out to Ebbets Field to watch his Giants play their rivals, the heartbreak he felt when they left in 1957, and saving San Francisco from that same fate when he and a group of investors bought the franchise in the early 1990's.
