As we draw near to the close of our EXILES series, we are encouraged to remember that as exiles living in a culture which we often find to be uncomfortable, we will suffer. But we need to use our suffering as an opportunity to bring peace to that culture. As Christ has suffered and redeemed us, so we should seek the redemption of that culture and its people, accepting the sufferings with a foreknowledge born of a peaceful recognition of the inevitability that things will not “of course” go your way. Today we’re continuing our Exiles series to help shift our perspective as followers of Jesus. This world is not our final and ultimate home, but we are called to live out our days in a way that redeems the world around us. One of the best ways to live redemptively in exile is to live in service to others. Jesus changes our pursuit of status, power, and authority to a pursuit of serving others. Teacher: Donovan Christian Baptism Sunday Baptism is the inauguration of the new life Jesus gives. We all have experienced a shift from who we were before Jesus to who we are because of Jesus. Thankfully, we are not who we’re going to be because of Christ. We continue to move from old to new and death to life day by day as we journey through life with Jesus.
