Across The Pond - Episode 49
31/08/2009 Duração: 58minIt was a sad weekend as many of us bade farewell to Senator Edward Kennedy. He will be missed my so many. It was a beautiful send off though. I wrote a short piece for Facebook on the day after I heard the news about my own personal feelings about this giant of a man. It was truly one of the great honours of my life to be in the same room with a man who changed the world for the better. The Podcast of the show is up a little late this week but if you managed to catch the show on ICR I hope you enjoyed the music. For those of you who wait for the archive stream on JigTime or the podcast, then I think you are in for a treat. Music on the show from Colin Hay, Cara Dillon, Bela Fleck and more. Don't forget next week is Show number 50. So join me as I celebrate the music of my Facebook friends. So you can expect music from Ciaran Tourish, John Doyle, Pauline Scanlon, Sharon Shannon and many more.

Across The Pond - Episode 46
08/08/2009 Duração: 59minThis week on Across The Pond I have two tracks from the incredible String Sisters. The String Sisters is a collaboration of the Celtic music world’s top female fiddlers; Annbjørg Lien from Norway, Catriona Macdonald from Shetland, Liz Carroll and Liz Knowles from the US, Mairead ni Mhaonaigh (Altan) from Ireland and Emma Härdelin from Sweden. Originally brought together for a special one-time show at Glasgow’s annual Celtic Connections festival to celebrate each of their region’s musical traditions, the results of this live recording contain some of the most brilliant fiddling heard in Celtic music. On Live, the String Sisters are joined by David Milligan (piano), Conrad Ivitsky (double bass), Tore Bruvoll (guitar) and James Mackintosh (drums). This is one of most beautiful, uplifting and inspiring albums I have heard in years. So expect more tracks from it in future shows. It is on repeat mode on my iPod in the car righ now. Also on this week's show music from Dr. John, Mark Knopfler, Seamus Begley an

Across The Pond - Episode 45
01/08/2009 Duração: 59minHi everyone. Another week in the deep south has brought some nice rain but the air remains humid and hot. It seems we also have a large snake living just outside our window. I haven't seen it yet but both Emily and Lupa have spotted a large black reptile in the grass near them. The good news is the black colour which means it is more than likely a rat snake or if not at least one of the non venomous varieties that live in Georgia. I had fun doing this week's show because I streamed live video from my studio in the closet. Now I am not a pretty sight by any means but it was fun knowing there were a few viewers keeping me company while i made the show. The way it was set up all they heard was me talking and not the music but it was still fun to do and I will have the new equipment soon and will be able to do a more live show. The music on the show was pretty good this week too. I had music from The Pride of New York, Catie Curtis, Levon Helm and many others. Please tell your friends to add my Facebook Acr

Across The Pond - Episode 44
25/07/2009 Duração: 59minIt was a fun week here in Georgia. Last weekend Lupa and I headed for the hills. We went for a long and tough walk into Tallulah Gorge. This is the wild and beautiful place where they shot the movie Deliverance. We rewarded ourselves after the trek with a visit to Mama G's restaurant in Clayton Georgia. It was a lovely meal and we were treated like stars by our busy but attentive waiter Challen. So if you ever find yourself in the hills of North Georgia you could do a lot worse than visit this wonderful restaurant. Of course there are a lot more great things to see up that way including the amazing gorge itself, the falls and the lovely little town that sits on the edge of the Gorge. On this week's show we have lots of music from Scotland including tunes from Tony McManus, Dougie Mcclean and Shooglenifty. Also there is music from Frank Tovey and Little Feat. So enjoy the show and tell all your friends.

Across The Pond - Episode 43
18/07/2009 Duração: 58minIt has been another good week here in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. The weather broke early in the week and some dramatic storms swept through the state dropping some much needed rain on us. I especially love when the rain comes. We get so little of it here. So maybe it was rain softening my world or maybe it was my full belly from the great family dinner we had at Tanner's restaurant that made me feel more laid back this week. So I think the music reflects that chilled mood too. Music today from Lone Justice, Dermot Byrne, Doc Watson, Tim O'Brien and more. I hope you enjoy the show and get in touch to let me know just what you want to hear.

03/07/2009 Duração: 58minYes it is time for another episode of Across The Pond. The show airs Thursdays at 6pm GMT and at 2pm GMT on Sundays on my favourite little radio station in the world ICR FM . Broadcasting to the Inishowen Peninsula and parts of Northern Ireland, ICR brings you news and commentary from my home place. It is a great leap forward in technology when I can turn on my computer in the morning and hear local news from my home town thousands of miles away. It is even more special to be able to play music for all my old friends back home, to share some of the great music of America with my Irish friends and the great music of Ireland with my American friends. Some great music on this week's show includes new tracks from Jim Lauderdale from his CD "Could We Get Any Closer". I also have music from Beoga, Brian Kennedy and Ryan Adams. So something for everyone in the show today I think. Don't forget you can now listen to the shows right here on JigTime shortly after they air in Ireland and you can also subscribe to the
