Jesus calls the first disciples with incredible effectiveness, why would men with good, stable lives leave everything to follow this somewhat unknown roaming prophet from Nazareth? Discipleship Questions: 1.When Jesus calls his first disciples he does so with incredible effectiveness, is this how God has always called his followers? 2. Does the reality of how effective Jesus’ call is bother you? Why? 3. Have you experienced ‘good’ or ‘bad’ things happen in your life since you started following Jesus? 4. What might possibly be the benefit of following Jesus, if there is no promise of immediate payoff? 5. What is the relationship between Jesus’ call and the disciples choice to follow him?

Discipleship Questions: 1. What is the significance of Jesus’ baptism? Why do you think Mark did not give us more information about it? 2. When in your life have you faced your greatest temptation? Did you endure through it or give in? 3. How can understanding Jesus’ proclamation in Mark 1:15 give us hope? 4. How does your view of the gospel change when it is no longer only about your personal salvation, but about the Kingdom of God? 5. What is in your life right now that you need to have victory over, endure through or declare war on?

Discipleship Questions: 1. How do you plan to study Mark along with our sermon series? 2. Do you respond well to direct communication? Why or why not? 3. Do you struggle with confessing sin and repentance? 4. Who do you have a platform with and how can you remain humble by putting the focus onto Jesus? 5. Have you experienced Jesus’ power by receiving the Holy Spirit? How did your life change when that happened?

Discipleship Questions: 1. Do you find yourself either retreating form the world because of the sin you see in it, or not seeing anything as sin and engaging too much? 2. Are you uncomfortable with the idea of engaging our culture? Why? 3. Which of the seven points of engaging culture do you feel the most comfortable with, why? 4. Do you see God’s work of redeeming all things present in people who don’t yet know him? 5. How will you intentionally engage Non-Christians with the love of Jesus this summer?

Discipleship Questions: 1. How does seeing God as inclusively missional change your reading of the bible? 2. Why do you find it hard to seek out the lost? 3. When will you step out in faith to be used by God for his mission? 4. What will you give up to meet someone else’s needs in Jesus’ name? 5. What might you need to suffer to see the mission of God go forward?
