Beauden Barrett talks Pumas and Springboks
10/09/2018 Duração: 04minLISTEN TO BEAUDEN BARRETT TALK WITH NIGEL YALDEN ABOVEThere are no false memories in the collective Barrett family treasury and both Beauden and Scott are aware that a ferocious battle with the Springboks looms this week in Wellington. Both of the brothers were instrumental in the 57-0 drubbing the All Blacks handed the South Africans the last time they played in New Zealand, but both are just as aware what it took to win that game.It was a record score and one that plunged South African rugby into a deep state of gloom and ultimately led to coaching change later that year, but for all that it may have seemed a walk in the park, it really wasn't.The All Blacks were in fact second best in most aspects of the contest for the entire first half. They were not on the front foot physically by any means, were dominated in the territory and possession stakes, yet reached the break 31-0 ahead in Albany. What separated the two teams were their respective clinical instincts. The All Blacks had four half chances in the firs

Greg Alexander: Warriors prepare for first week of finals
06/09/2018 Duração: 10minLISTEN TO GREG ALEXANDER PREVIEW THE MATCH WITH D'ARCY AND GORAN ABOVEWarriors captain Roger Tuivasa-Sheck is yet to run on his injured ankle and will need to prove his fitness tomorrow before being cleared to play in Saturday's sudden death NRL finals clash against Penrith. The Kiwi international fullback walked freely through the departure gates at Auckland airport today ahead of the Warriors flight to Sydney and showed no signs of the limp that he carried after suffering the injury in last week's win over Canberra.Assistant coach Andrew McFadden is confident the club's Player of the Year will be right for their biggest game of the season but said a decision on Tuivasa-Sheck's availability would be made after tomorrow's captains run at ANZ Stadium.Retiring back-rower Simon Mannering completed light duties at training yesterday and is expected to be fit for his 301st appearance despite carrying a sternum injury."We're hopeful. Roger hasn't run yet but that's just to give him the best chance physically," said

Ant Strachan: All Blacks announce team for Argentina match
06/09/2018 Duração: 09minLISTEN TO ANT STRACHAN TALK WITH D'ARCY AND GORAN ABOVEThe All Blacks selectors have chosen to give a trio of players an extra week off to get right.Midfielder Ryan Crotty, flanker Sam Cane and winger Rieko Ioane weren't considered for Saturday's Rugby Championship test against Argentina in Nelson.Crotty and Cane are returning from concussions, while Ioane suffered a grade one hamstring tear in the Bledisloe Cup opener in Sydney.Coach Steve Hansen says another week will be good for the trio, especially Ioane who they don't want to push too hard too soon."I've been calling him the 80 Percenter the last couple weeks cause I don't want him running any faster than that. He ran in the training season barely 100 and it's just a matter of making sure we don't over extend him too early."Richie Mo'unga is trying to keep a clear head following confirmation of his first test start for the All Blacks. The Canterbury first five has been tasked with guiding the World Champions around Trafalgar Park against Argentina on Satu

Graeme Agars: Stunning five set win for Rafael Nadal
05/09/2018 Duração: 05minLISTEN TO GRAEME AGARS TALK WITH D'ARCY AND GORAN ABOVERafael Nadal began his U.S. Open quarter-final as poorly as possible, shut out in a set by a 6-0 score for only the fourth time in 282 career Grand Slam matches. On the previous three such occasions, he'd lost. On this one, he managed to come back to win, although it took 4 hours, 49 minutes and never did get easy for him.The defending champion and No. 1 seed at Flushing Meadows recovered from his disastrous start and other stumbles along the way to beat No. 9 Dominic Thiem 0-6, 6-4, 7-5, 6-7 (4), 7-6 (5) for a semifinal berth at a third consecutive Grand Slam tournament, winning a physical, back-and-forth tussle that stretched across and concluded after 2 a.m.How tense and tight was this one? Not only was Nadal two points from losing at 5-all in the closing tiebreaker, but he finished with fewer total points, 171-166.When it ended, on an overhead by Thiem that sailed long, Nadal walked around the net to hug his opponent and whisper words of encouragement.

Graeme Agars: Roger Federer knocked out of US open
04/09/2018 Duração: 06minLISTEN TO GRAEME AGARS TALK WITH D'ARCY AND GORAN ABOVERoger Federer has been sent spiralling out of the US Open in the fourth round after a stunning charge from Aussie John Millman took their match 3-6 7-5 7-6 7-6.The 29-year-old fought hard to bring the World No. 2 to a tiebreak in the third and fourth sets after a tense tug of war kept locals out of bed late into the night. The victory was Millman's first against a top 10 player. He was also the first Australian to defeat Federer in a grand slam match since Pat Rafter in 1999.The tiebreak went back and forth until Millman found a chink in Federer's armour at 8-7 and forced the Swiss great into an error down the line. Federer was forced to sweat as the humid New York conditions and an unusually inconsistent serve took their toll. The two stars continued to trade games into the third set until Federer broke away and finally sealed a break at 4-2. But Millman was made of tougher stuff than that. After looking to have dropped the set into the 37-year-old's hands,
