Today we talk all about the Creative leaning curve and the 5 phases we as creatives head towards as we start in on new projects. Asa music teacher I witness students moving through these phases all the time so there is an intimacy I hold with them. The trick is to let go of our expectations and simply keep moving forward. There is so much more to this....so you are just going to have to listen. Big love to all of you as you jump into new creative projects. I see you and I can feel you all the way from here

Self doubt always has room at the table whenever we start new creative projects. The idea here is to let it have a seat but not give it any control. We can learn to work with self doubt if we recognize what it is and how to work with it. Trust me it’s not easy but it gets better and better. Sending Big Love to all the creatives out there you make my heart grow and you also make me want to work a little harder so that we all can connect to our talents.

Not one of us is immune to self sabotage. It is the thing that holds our creativity back and closes all of the doors until we are wondering what happened to our ideas and projects. We dive into this subject together. Because everyone needs a buddy.

Experiencing the Creative lull can be unnerving for most artists. I have experienced many of these myself. In this weeks podcast we look into how to treat ourselves as we manoeuvre through these times. I have three ideas for our sweet creative hearts. I also read Shakespeare’s Sonnet 29 in which he talks about comparing himself to others and how when he thinks of “his love” his mind state shifts and he would not ever trade his state with kings. Mmmm mmmmm mmmmm a juicy one just for you as we head into winter solstice.

When we move big Creative projects out into the public eye it can bring up feelings of emotion and darkness. This is all good and ok. I share a little personal story of my upcoming launch and finding an old writing that brought me back into a dark place. If you are moving through a dark time yourself you can call out for support and help from some unsuspecting ideas. Big Love

Ahhhh the tried and true vulnerability hangover. Non are immune to its intense magic. If you are an artist....you cannot get away from the power of its spell. But it’s good....trust me....witnessing my friends grind their art out into the world this week was a magical process.....your hard work and dedication does not go unnoticed.....I read a poem by David Whyte today called “Close In” it’s a perfect reading for anyone staring down the pipeline of a big project. We are all in this together

Do you hear it???? Sometimes it feels like a knock at the door and other times it feels like a whisper. It’s the sweet little voice that calls you to start creating and moving towards your passion. You have a special gift way deep down inside. No seriously...all of us have something we can share generously with the world. It could be big and profound or sweet and small. Smiling at a stranger or making large works of art....we all have something we can share. On today’s episode we encourage you to do it. And guess what? You don’t have to tell anyone you are doing it. It can be your very own secret project. Keep it to yourself or share it with others....you have control. I also read to you my writing called the gift.

Time is on our side if we can slow down and allow ourselves to create a new relationship with it. In the process of constant production we can lose sight of the final product and the joy it creates in getting there. A good reminder to grow Slow and go slow. And when it is said out loud a big sigh of relief happens......learning to take on this mindset and listen into all of the places my heart wants to follow. Do you follow your hearts call to just jump in and start practicing? Do you expect to be a professional right out of the gate thus not allowing yourself to fall or fail?? This episode talks it all out.....and I read a little writing that is giving thanks to the parts of us that do all of the heavy lifting.

Ahhhh the observation that as we create we should be looking towards the long game versus the get rich quick scheme. Our fear and anxiety witnessed as we move along the path. And creating community within that framework. It’s ok to feel fearful and anxious.....but can we sit in it quietly surrendering all of the what if’s? Can we sit in the uncomfortable feelings of sharing and getting feedback. We talk it all out in this episode. I’ll read one of my writings inspired by observing all of my courageous brave creators that show up again and again.

Another off the cuff pod about quality over quantity. This week I pose a couple of creative questions pertaining to the work of the Creative. Does creating always have to be fun? Can we create to get better at the practice? As a creative are you allowing yourself to work through the struggle or are you simply giving up when things get hard. Do you really love yourself? A bit of a deep dive today on a subject that I’m learning about. It’s a slow learning process but I’m following the trail. Self love is an important subject as it surrounds us every day. Our bodies do and create so much for us and there is a tendency to treat it as a second thought. By no means am I an expert in self love however by reciting some writing and telling a little story we can wiggle ourselves a little deeper into it. Big Love
