Jan is a true artist who considers the final print over any part of the process.  He has been known to spend 14 hours toning his prints. So each piece is individual like no other work. We concentrate this episode on the intellectual side of life, discussing culture and the race against time.  It’s both enlightening and shocking to hear what Jan has seen over a number of visits to these regions. Welcome to episode 76 of Photography Insights and another great guest for you.  After listening to Ibarionex Perello aka The Candid Frame and reading his blog for some time now, I have really enjoyed his conversations with other photographers.  He seems to get the stories and such interesting people, that it can really move you.  Ibarionex has been podcasting now for over 14 years and on his 500th show!  He's also had 25 years in the photography industry, so has some great experience.  Using this gift he's run workshops and taught in different places around the globe, written 6 books and provides critique's and teaching too. Welcome to episode 75 everyone and I have another different guest for you.  Some of you have been waiting excitedly for this one too - so welcome on board Flight Instructor Dave Baranek (aka callsign "Bio"). So Dave was an officer in the USA Navy and not only flew (he's a radar intercept officer)  in the f-14 Tomcat's but managed a squadron too!  Not only that but Dave has ties to one of the most famous aeroplane films ever - Top Gun!  Yes, he helped with instructing on the film and is credited too. Merry Christmas everyone, it's December 2019 and my final show of the year (although this will miss the usual Wednesday slot since its Christmas).  The idea behind this show was to look back over the year and talk about what has been happening in terms of meetups, blogging and podcasting. I'm pleased to introduce you to Adam Lee aka "adams walks".  He's a guy who loves travelling on foot and camping around.  Recently he walked the entire length of the UK with a donkey named Martin!!!  It's a fascinating story a man and a pack animal, how they learnt about each other and kept plodding on.  He managed to write on his blog a little about this and even from the perspective of Martin the donkey - which is funny, so check out the links.   Fingers crossed Adam will get published too, as he's working on a book about his trip (one of a few).  Adam's also work on long term plans to walk China with a mule for company. In this show, we interview a guy from across the other side of the world, in a diverse country called Australia.  Denis Smith is not only an Olympus visionary but someone who shoots long exposure.  He creates amazing images of orbs and other patterns using long exposure + a multitude of tools.  Some of these are made by his company and sold through his online store. What made me want to interview Denis was his story, it's one with a turbulent past.  He had a life-changing event that made him become who he is now - a great person and friend to all.  We do talk in an open and brutal manner about mental health with men. Through his meetups and workshops, he's able to teach people why he loves light painting so much.  Denis talks about light painting and how easy it is to get started and why do-it-yourself is an important part of the process. Interview with master printer Andrew Sanderson - episode 66 of Photography insights, your one stop guide to interviews with people in the photography industry. It's so nice to interview from the different areas of the photography world and this one is definitely that!  I remember Ethan launching the Kickstarter project for Cameradactyl back in 2018 and thought wow, how colourful is that, such a different approach. Ethan has done a cracking job with the camera and launched all manner of accessories for cameras (not just his large-format model).  He has now ventured into making a handheld 4x5 which is a great concept.  Now I know not everyone is going to be thrilled about the products he makes or the choice of materials.  But this is 2019, there are not many options unless you have unlimited funds and some accessories he makes are only available second hand, as they relate to cameras from the 70+80's. For episode 64 I'm going back to my roots with this one, my very first interview was with a street photographer.  I think its just something in some of us to shoot in this way.  So today I've finally had a chance to catch up with the man of shadows and highlights, John Hughes. John is a really good force for street photography, he speaks the truth and from the heart.  If he doesn't like something he will tell you, so if honesty isn't for you look elsewhere!  John is a full-time photographer and runs workshops, creates zines and offers one to one coaching.
