A few weeks ago, I got to interview the Zoo's Kevin Fong for the Ability Center podcast I host. I try to keep those well under our time we spend here, and I found out he and I appreciate the same A24 movies AND he's a TSA kid. So with our TSA regular, Bethany (AND MADI'S HERE!), more time with Kevin, some of duties at the Zoo, his grandparents owning a local restaurant that was in a PBS doc, AND his nickname, Fongus.  Oh, and it seems Tom Brady's wife is livid with him, and rightly so.

This is not what you may have been hearing about lately. This is Niké Licata whom I met last year through someone at work. Her son, in the army in Alaska, took his life. The aftermath for her, and her other son, Brandon were as painful as you'd guess. Nike and Brandon are on with me to talk about how they moved through the tragedy and how they arrived at Christian's Corner and next Saturday's upcoming event at Dana. After their visit, the long awaited return of my dear friend, astrologer Janet Amid!

Save Our Community is the evolution of what was the city's violence interrupters. Alex and I had an informative and enlightening chat with David, a former librarian, about his vision for the program, and how us Target shopping people can help! First, some discussions to think about, which we will come back. The war on lawns. Why/how could kids possibly fill the NOW HIRING positions? Are we going to have more broken adults from early fame than ever before? 

Bethany's husband had quite a fall off a ladder on his trip to the roof. Some people are upset there wasn't a certain warning for House Of The Dragon. Bethany is totally cool with Alex, and others, having their student debt wiped away. I have a new favorite animal at the zoo. It gives me peace. TPS using ARPA funds to bring in more mental health professionals. A discussion about why they're needed there in the first place. 

And on the seventh ask I granted Steve Kiessling his request to visit the podcast. It's timely too, as the other day Steve and our friend Laura at Humane Ohio were part of a Blade story about feral cats in the area. Steve is the Cumulus community affairs guest this week. After that part of the visit, we talk about his very circuitous route to Toledo.  Before that, college debt erasure has me quite concerned. Perhaps even more so than the acknowledgment those UFOs are not man made. WHAT!?

Some peeks at what she has coming up, but first Mary's had a busy summer, filled with food, TEARS, thankfulness, lots of books and so much more to discuss with one of my favorite people.  We will start with whether or not she has pushed me to the boundary of my candy corn affinity.

Privilegeburg has a nice, accurate, ring to it doesn't it? It's called Perfectsburg on occasion too, no? You may or may not have heard what was going on with some students after a horrific rape charge, and their return to the school setting. No? Catch up here. When reading things like, protecting children in libraries, hallways etc, and the word predator, I wanted the expert child psychology advice from my good friend, and fellow mental health crusader, Dr. Andrea Mata from Brightspot Families. She can shed light on whether or not those kids are truly predators, and perhaps better ways this situation could've been handled. Before that, how we make decisions. You may be more of a cold, brutal algorithm than you give yourself credit for.  Also, what happens if what could come to Waterville is more disruptive than the proposed amphitheater. 

Instead of cohosting, Alex is the guest on today's episode. First, upcoming levies, Jeepfest and other weekend successes. The loss of Anne Heche. Why did I ask my dad about this vaccine!? Bad leadership, and entitled adults.  This show is SO much like Game Of Thrones to me. Consequences mattered and were mostly final. 

As many have found out, Toledo does indeed have a city flag. Many, if not all. cities have them!  Jacob Parr is, for lack of a better way to put it, a flag nerd! He's been working tirelessly for quite some time to reimagine our boring, seal stamped flag.  Why? Listen in, and you'll be on board!

The dysthymia caught up with me yesterday.  Vote for the Library levy. Get a sign too. Another streamer raising prices. Wendy's has French toast sticks. Everything needs explaining!

Less than 60 days till the wedding and the S in RSVP is for stress. The P is for potential problems. First, Serena Williams evolves.  The Chief heads to retirements. And Alex plays a game of Toledo Food Truck or Not. 

There's several people here whose name you HAVE to get right.  The boat police came after Alex on her kayak on the Maumee. You, if you won Mega Millions. I think you'd be MUCH different. My Dad made prefuneral arrangements, for himself, so this led us into a long discussion about death. We need more retail downtown. 

FLOYD CAME TO VISIT! For a few big announcements. August 19 at Pride. A preview of Deja's appearance on Camp Wannakiki on OUT TV. 

I don't think I will ever have to say Heather's title again. It's testing my brain, tongue and Invisalign (dizzy emoji!). Her title is long and her passion for TPS is enormous! So glad Zepf Center friend Larry Smith connected us so Heather can talk about an upcoming community event for TPS, and a nice little preview of the 2022/23 school year. First up! The meeting for the Waterville amphitheater was...overcrowded, so postponed.  And, I need to apply an Ed Sheeran song analogy to some things you love, that won't stop arising. 

It's Taco and Marg Fest week at the Huntington Center. Will it go off smoothly? It's a strength to know your weaknesses.  Deshaun Watson was suspended (only) six games. A mf'er of a dog in the neighborhood.  I stole a lot when I was a kid. Technically, I'm never allowed back into Sports Authority.  It doesn't matter if WE are in the R word.
