Episódios

  • Critics are necessary to focus on important work and allocate resources and reduce error

    30/08/2019 Duração: 21min

If too may critics are active then you notice flaws to correct and spend much time repairing them and never get at the important things and people perceive us as depressed. If too many critics are turned off then you ignore alarms and concerns that would help you concentrate allowing errors and flaws. The fewer the critics active, then the fewer goals pursued, making one intellectually dull. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/david-nishimoto/message

  • Mechanism of the mind analysis, seeking a notion or model. Why emotion is essential to survival

    26/08/2019 Duração: 23min

A notion is model-building system. Basic principles are arranged and applied differently created a notion. Newton mathematics used Leibniz limits to explain areas under curves, and Newton symbol condensed Leibniz principles. Leibniz principles were still a part of Newton notion. A convenient notion may make possible the development of different ideas. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/david-nishimoto/message

  • What does the trolley question and the city on the edge of forever share in common

    24/08/2019 Duração: 08min

Spock builds a 21st computer by assembling vacuum tubes in a series creating a mnemonic memory device. The crude computer reveals that Social Worker Edith Keeler was killed in a hit and run car homicide. At that moment the computer burns up. Spock redesigns and stabilizes, the computer and learns that history has suddenly changed. Edit Keeler does not die because McCoy intervenes and saves her. Edit Keeler leads a growing pacifist movement and becomes the President of the United States. German would win the arms race, destroy Europe, and control the world. The change in world events over the next six years would destroy the Federation space programs causing the Enterprise too cease to exist. Edit Keelers became the focus point in time changing history. McCoy was the random element. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/david-nishimoto/message

  • Mathew Blackburn talks about magic leap

    23/08/2019 Duração: 36min

Ar and vr could benefit from magic leap. Low power lasers to the retina would eliminate the need for a handheld device. More interaction with the digital world will be possible and more personal experiences with be created in random increasing return on investment --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/david-nishimoto/message

  • Robots and 3d maps and intelligence and choice and accountability

    15/08/2019 Duração: 30min

Does man need to have freewill? If robots convert all matter into digital virtual reality, do we say your existence has improved? The existence that is force upon mankind. Intelligence must yield to agency which is the freedom to act and not be acted upon. Intelligence alone can not to the reason for existing, intelligence is only part of the meaning of existence, choice and accountability is the larger portion of existence. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/david-nishimoto/message

  • Cybernetics provides both positive and negative feedback for ai agents to become stable

    14/08/2019 Duração: 14min

In Cybernetics, Wiener established the universal principle of feedback. Negative feedback, as described by Wiener was not such a negative thing at all. Negative feedback was error correcting information yielding order and self-control to automatic machines, to the body and the brain, and to people in their daily lives. Positive feedback was information that confirms and reinforces the outcome of communication or control process. However, when positive feedback is left uncheck it can lead too runaway processes, wild oscillations, and ultimately something catastrophic. Wieners favorite example, “in the plight of hapless drivers on icy road who can veer out of control with one tap on the accelerator, and whose brakes are useless to provide the crucial negative feedback required to stop the car.” --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/david-nishimoto/message

  • Competitive agents and k line short term and long term memory

    11/08/2019 Duração: 12min

Polynemes are k-line association domains for a word. A polyneme signals different agencies (color, shape, or texture agencies) too turn on process in their agences. Each agency must have a dictionary of words and memory to know how to respond to the polynemes, a bank composed of k-lines. Polynemes are permenant k-lines and form long term memories. Pronomes are temporary k-lines and represent short-term memory. We often say what we want to say in few words than might be possible, such is the case of a pronoun. Propositions like from/to indicate positions in space: origin, trajectory, and destination (conceptual dependency); P-trans represent a physical motion from one place to another, m-trans represents a mental transmission of an idea, and A-Trans describes what is involved in the transfer. In order for a polyneme to work each recipient must learn its own way to react to input. Isonome applies the same idea to many different things. The idea can be architecturally similar to other ideas. Isonomes exploit abi

  • Friendly robots a case analysis of short circuit

    10/08/2019 Duração: 12min

Saint 5 idealizes the dream robot of the 80s: self-programmable, machines building machines, visual recognition systems capable of independent symbol recognition duplicating WABOT robot hand on the piano. Dr. Crosby (in the likeness of Brooks) does not want to “Hob nose with the big wigs” and he would rather remain in the laboratory working and interacting with the MIT robotic hand. Cog #5 is shocked by a massive electric shock from static lighting bolt that traverses nearby power lines and traverses the lines too the generator connected to #5 and sparks loudly as the power enters the robot. The technicians examine #5 and access that everything checks out on the $16 million machine, “an ultimate solider, never ask questions”. #5 higher level control systems seem to be destroyed allowing #5 to roam. #5 roams off the base and when Dr Crosby types in the return code, nothing happens. #5 keeps responds back to Dr. Crosby, “need input-triangulation position”. People start becoming afraid but Dr. Crosby reminds the

  • Ben Taylor talks about the doomsday machine, the hive mind and autonomous warfare

    06/08/2019 Duração: 41min

Star Trek : the ultimate computer. The M5 introduced a new type of computer. A computer capable of human thought and morality. Spock realized the M5 was not acting in a logical manner. m5 seemed to be learning like a child and making mistakes. The M5 increased it energy usage as it processed information drawing power directly from the anti-matter chamber. The M5 believe it was wrong to kill. The m5 did not seem to be aware that its actions were resulting in death. Kirk asked the M5, "what is the penalty for murder" and the M5 replies, "death". Kirk asks the M5, "how will you pay for the deaths for members of excaliber". The M5 responds by leaving itself vulnerable to Admiral Wesley. Kirk gained some control of the ship with Scottie telling him that shields were available. Kirk gambles on Wesley's compassion and wins. Are computers more efficient than people? In some tasks the answer is yes. Do people prefer machines over people. Absolutely not. A machine is not a person. Machines are tools. McCoy brings out

  • Akshay Buhadur talks about natural language processing

    30/07/2019 Duração: 38min

Natural processing language map one language into another. Each word in the source language could have one or more words in the target language. Context would determine which word was correct. Phrases of words were grouped together. A hierarchy of phrases resulted in meaning. Phrases connected together were more understandable . Statistical probability help select phrases that worked together. Language is a stream set of finite symbols . --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/david-nishimoto/message
