Todays guest is Jesse Miller. Jesse is a Artist, a Craftsman and a Jack of all trades. He is a product of his environment. His art got traction from a young age by being at the right place at the right time. The son of a surfer, he had been taken to the beach a lot in his youth..growing up surfing Sano and Blackies in Newport. With a chance opportunity he moved schools in high school to Newport Harbor. It was here that he would make connections and start doing art for all of the top brands in the surf industry. Jesse would go on to produce many logos for brands as a freelance artist. His art is unique and draws inspiration from nature an Psychedelic 60's poster art. Other than drawing...he's a master painter, Woodworker, Stained glass Aficionado which is reflective of his current work where he mixes all three. These days Jesse can be seen cruising down to Sano in his Guacamole Green VW Bus or at his annual Sawdust Festival booth in Laguna Beach. Todays guest is Tom Morey the inventor of the "Morey Boggie" Bodyboard. Tom is a creative surf designer, inventor and theorist from Southern California. Tom was born in Detroit in 1935. His family moved to Laguna Beach when he was 9 and he started surfing Main Beach on a "Surf Matt". He then moved to Santa Monica and began doing "stand-up surfing" at Malibu Point. In 1958 he received a BA in Mathematics from USC and became an engineer for Douglas Aircraft. In 1969 he quit Douglas to start "Morey Surfboards". One year later he formed "Morey-Pope Surfboards" with San Diego Surf designer Karl Pope. Morey and Pope created innovative board designs such as the "Trisect" ... a travel ready, three piece board that came with its own suitcase. Morey helped develop "Slipcheck" a surfboard traction aerosol spray-on used as an alternative to surfboard wax. He invented the W.A.V.E. set, the first commercially successful removable fin system.  Todays guest is Brooke Kelley, the creative director for Bevy and Brine. Brook is an artist and Bevy and Brine is her freelance art movement that she runs, specializing in murals, custom art, prints, clothes...the list goes on and on. Her work is also available on Etsy. Brookes whole approach to art is a breath of fresh air. Her art draws inspiration from all things vibrating with color and fun. She sees things in a way that makes her art come alive in a joyous, silly and functional way. I had the pleasure of working with Brooke at a stable job with benefits. Brooke felt in her heart that the job wasn't right. She trusted her gut and left the job...  a move that guided her in believing there was something more out there... out there in the great unknown of being an independent professional artist. She took the leap, and these days she's staying true to her heart while having fun. She started doing murals and small signs for weddings...then making cool prints and getting them into all the hip local coffee sho

Today's guest is the star of Surfer Magazine's "Ultra Core Surf Hour" with Jon Wayne Freeman. Jon is a surfer, a father, a husband and a paramedic. Jon has just turned 40 and is blazing a new trail in life, foraging ahead in the vast unknown space, in an up and coming (Rebranded) genera known to the masses as "Surf Comedy". Yes, surfers have always had a sense of humor. They are natural joksters and pranksters...doing comedy skits as far back as the Endless Summer. Comedy has come a long way. The time before the Internet was a tuff place for an emerging artist with talent. You needed to be at the right place at the right time. You needed headshots, an agent and an agency to support your work. And thats all to get you 5 minutes on the "Tonight Show". Then came "Saturday Night Live"! This was a new emerging platform for Comedians and Sketch Groups to perform. We take a short drive down the street to Doheny State park. I found a oceanfront parking spot just in time for a dramatic Southern California sunset. Thats when my guest arrived. Todays guest is my friend Eddie Bean. Eddie is the founder and creator of KUNG FU TONIC!  What is KUNG FU TONIC? Today's guest is my friend Mr. Jake Rosen. Jake is a talented guitar player among other things. Jakes guitar can be heard in soundtracks for classic surf films such as "Forbidden Trim" And "Blue Intensity" directed by George Trim. Jake is a Sano local and a great longboarder in his own right. Jake has been around recording equipment his whole life, so when I asked for his help with the Podcast.. he felt right at home. Especially because we were recording at his grandmas house. Jake comes from a long line of adventurers and thrill seekers. Jake also is a man that picks up a lot of hobbies. Last time we checked, Jake was a Fish enthusiast. Now, he has abandoned his fish for his new Mountain Biking obsession! We caught up with Jake while he nursed a bottle of Tequila and talked Surf, Guitar and Fish. Today's guest is J.Karen AKA Granny J.  J.Karen does onsite wetsuit repair down at San Onofre State surfing beach on Friday and Saturday. If the job is bigger, you can drop off your wetsuit at Killer Dana of Terry Senate Surfboards, and she will pick them up and do repairs.  She is a traveler and spends half her time in beautiful British Columbia. She fixed one of my favorite wetsuits and it was cheap and easy. She was a delight to meet and she is a character with a wonderful story. I packed up the VW bus early on Saturday morning and headed to Sano for a surf and an interview. After a fun session in the chilly water, I headed back to the bus to warm up and set up the mics. Bill was kind enough to invite me over to his house on the hill overlooking the radiant pacific blue. Bill has a man cave, but not just any man cave... a man cave on steroids! Today's guest is Tosh Johnson. Tosh is a 13 year old "Salt Creek super grom". Tosh is a member of the Dana Point Board Riders Club. He was the winner of the "Most committed" award at a recent event in Newport. Tosh lives in San Juan Capistrano and comes from a long line of surfers.  He learned to surf at Doheny, now he charges waves everywhere, all around the area. He's a stand out on his Marco Forester Middle school surf team.  Surfing is just one of many fun action sports that he's involved in. Lets check in with Tosh and see what it's like shredding in 2019.

Todays guest is the Indigenous urban dweller. That's the name Nick Stepien has given himself. Nick is a nomadic minded ocean lover. He claims that he is the modern day Jeff Spokoli. Nick lives in a 1970's camper van and parks it at Doheney state beach. The pressures of life, substance abuse and the high cost of living has forced Nick to rethink his approach to life. From star bartender in Laguna Beach, to living in his car in Dana Point. Here is a Podcast that scratches the surface of what it's like to be homeless.

Today's interview is right here in town, San Clemente. We load up the VW bus and head downtown to Granada street. We arrive at the Brophy art gallery and design center. Today's guest is Drew Brophy. Drew has been an artist for over 30 years. A life long surfer and traveler. Drew's career exploded in the 1990's when he began painting surfboards using paint pens. Since then Drew has been busy doing many epic art projects. Weather he's designing an album cover or hosting a community art party, drew always makes time to hop on his bike and head down for a surf. Today we take another drive up the coast...back to Laguna Beach. This time we head to Aliso Creek Beach for a sunset interview with the  Skimboarding Legend, Bill Bryan! We caught up with the 14X World Champion to talk to him about Life,Art, Mexico, Skim, Snowboarding, Family and More!

Once again I take my 1972 Volkswagen bus for a little drive up the coast to the beautiful coves of Laguna Beach. I parked the bus in a rad  spot overlooking the brilliant blue Pacific Ocean. This is where I met up with my next guest, Mr. Goff Stepien... or as every buddy calls him "GOFF" You can't live in Laguna Beach and not know Goff. He is a staple of that town and a hardcore surfer at heart. He is a character of all characters. He's a hilarious entertainer, the owner of a surf school and the head of a local touring agency. You can catch Goff doing headstands on his surfboard or singing in the streets. One thing is for sure....You'll always catch Goff with a smile on his face! It is my pleasure to bring you my conversation with GOFF!

E Bikes are here! But, are they here to stay? It seems everybody is riding these Electric Bikes..Old people, Young people and your everyday surfer. Everyone is joining in on the fun! But, at what cost? Could these Bikes be dangerous and encourage bad cycling habits? One thing is for sure...The E Bike has completely taken over Trestles.
