Hot and Humid Conditions Continue to Build from the Central Plains to the Deep South; Heat Advisories have been issued from parts of the Central Plains to the Deep South, where very hot and humid conditions will continue into this weekend. Severe thunderstorms are possible on Wednesday across parts of the Upper Midwest, and Mid-Atlantic. A cold front stretching from the Central U.S. to the Northeast States will contribute to the possibility of severe thunderstorms Tuesday and Wednesday in the central & northern Plains, Midwest, Ohio Valley, and Great Lakes region. Severe Thunderstorms Possible Over the Central Plains and Upper Midwest; Excessive Heat in the Southwest Lingers Monday. Severe thunderstorms are possible from Nebraska and Iowa into southern Minnesota and Wisconsin on Monday. Large hail and damaging winds are the main threats. In the Southwest, Excessive Heat Warnings and Heat Advisories remain in effect Monday. Flash Flood Risk Continues Over Portions of the Plains; Lingering Impacts from Erick in Hawaii - Additional showers and thunderstorms will bring a flash flood risk to the south-central Plains into Saturday. Meanwhile, Tropical Cyclone Erick will continue moving away from Hawaii, but may result in lingering impacts of high surf, rainfall, and locally gusty winds. Enhanced moisture will interact with a slow moving front supporting showers and thunderstorms Friday and Friday night with a flash flood threat possible from southeastern Nebraska into northwestern Arkansas.  Repeated rounds of thunderstorms and heavy rain are expected across the junction of Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Arkansas for the next 3 days. Gusty easterly winds will continue through Saturday as Tropical Storm Erick passes south of the state. Deep tropical moisture expected to move over the islands north of Erick will keep the rain chances up, initially over the eastern portion of the state tonight, then across the smaller islands Friday through Saturday. Expect moderate to breezy trade winds across local waters through Friday. Hurricane Erick will weaken as it approaches the area from the east.
