While the SXSW Grulke Prize winner was born and now lives in France, Jain’s music is heavily inspired by her time growing up in the Belgian Congo, Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Her appeal is fully-realized in Europe, but now with her sophomore record, ‘Souldier’, she’s ready to leave a lasting mark Stateside and around the world. We caught up with Jain at this year’s Montreal Jazz Festival to talk about her distinct pop music style, her incredible live show and how she’s ready to give Daft Punk a run for their money with a stadium show.
