Do they like cooperative or competitive games? Do they prefer simulation (i.e. war) games  or games with an abstract theme? Do they like games with random events or do they like games with less reliance on mechanics like dice rolling? Do they like to play a few games that they are familiar with repeatedly, or do they like to experiment with new games?
