Happy 91st birthday to one of the funniest entertainers ever!  To celebrate, Tim and Tom Van Boening cover highlights of the long career of Mel Brooks. Warning.  Several sound clips include language and content that was used in a different time.  Mel Brooks enjoyed crassness to shock people after all.  Like Brooks, In no way do we condone the use of slurs to bring others down, but laugh and ridicule all who would. Happy 40th Anniversary Star Wars!  The Van Boening twins reminisce about the impact of Star Wars and how it inspired pop culture to become what it is today.  Tim and Tom also go back and forth talking about how Star Wars has impacted their lives as well. Tim and Tom Van Boening open up about their hiatus.  They explain circumstances with personal matters, include a belated short review of Star Wars Rogue One, and reveal what the pop culture duo has been up to lately. Originally recorded 3-19-2017 Retro Vantage has now passed 300 followers on Tumblr, almost 100 followers on Twitter, and dozens of more supporters on Facebook.  Still could use some more love on iTunes though!  Thanks again to all our supporters.

Retro Vantage is back.  Tim and Tom Van Boening reunite after their hiatus to talk about retro books of all things.  These include books of fantasy, science fiction, and horror that haven't been translated for television or cinema. If anyone in Hollywood is listening, these are the works the Van Boening Twins would love to see adapted, since that has become the driving force in movie making recently. Books include The Silmarillion by Tolkien, The Foundation Trilogy by Asimov, and Man Plus by Fredrick Pohl just for starters.  Check out what other great books would make wonderful television series or movie franchises. The Van Boening Twins remember a bygone era of video gaming from the 80's and 90's.  They also get psyched about what the future of gaming could mean for gamers of all ages with Virtual Reality becoming real in 2016, and predict what that could mean for the arcade scene. Tim then gives us his top ten favorite arcade games.  Lots of classics, each bringing back a bunch of old memories. The Van Boening twins give their thoughts on the newest Star Wars film, The Force Awakens.  All in all, good times are ahead and it has never been a better time to be a fan of Star Wars. Spoilers ahead for those who haven't seen the movie yet.  If you haven't yet, do it!
