Violence against women, a worldwide epidemic! Oscar Pistorius, a national HERO in So. Africa, allegedly killed his girl friend. We can stop domestic violence if we understand the root cause and stop tolerating abuse. Every 13 seconds a woman is battered in the U.S.

Why would an ex-cop kill innocent people? What makes a man turn violent and seek revenge? How can parents strengthen children so they grow up to be strong and resilient? Here are some ideas to help you keep your children safe and healthy.

Do men and women think differently about safety? If we are going to stop violence...think like a mother (and some men). Some boys grow up to be violent if their needs are not met at home. Boys who are neglected, abused or feel powerless soon learn from TV, video games and movies that a gun is a way to feel in control and powerful. Every child can overcome hurtful events, if someone cares and gives them the support they need to grow strong and resilient.

Gun control may make us feel better but it will not reduce gun violence. There are 300 million guns in circulation and 250,000 new members of the NRA since the Sandy Hook Massacre. Gun sales are at an all time high. Americans must address root causes before we can stop gun violence.

Wake up! Our children are suffering! We must address the real issues that fuel guns in America. As long as guns are the issue, Americans will ignore the root causes for gun violence.

After the Newtown massacre, Americans experienced, again, the reality of young people killing the innocent. A gun is a power tool for those who feel powerless. We can pass laws and try to control guns but they are NOT solutions. Community support strengthen families, reduces fear and social isolation which fuels gun violence! Find out what you can do!

Self aware kids learn they can change their behavior even if they have problems at home or at school. One example: A 13 year old girl's experience to become self aware. Parents... encourage children to be observant, don't blame yourself but learn the lesson.

Americans can stop gun violence, if the media broadens the discussion beyond GUNS. We need a dialogue on... how to strengthen the American family. This 5 minute podcast focuses on 2 solutions to support and help create more peaceful families.
