Sinopse

A podcast about how to make the most of your life trip, hosted by Dana Sutton, The Life Trip Coach. Dancing in the space where humor and seriousness overlap, episodes use various trip or journey metaphors to talk about the challenges and opportunities we face at different points in life ("becalmed" = no energy to go forward, "detours" = things that happen that we can't plan for). Some are solo episodes with Dana, while others involve interviews with a coach, counselor, or other "travel agent." Funny, relevant, thought-provoking, and helpfully motivating!

Episódios

  • The Good Enough Trip

    13/11/2017 Duração: 09min

Clarifying, claiming, and realigning your values can lead to powerful change in your life. But what if you get stuck on the "ideal?" How might a constantly moving target leave you feeling frustrated or defeated? In this episode of Life Trippin, life coach Dana Sutton describes "the power of ENOUGH." When you begin to explore what is enough for you - enough money, time, achievement, affection, etc. - you create a much greater possibility of happiness.

  • Sports Car or Family Truckster?

    23/10/2017 Duração: 43min

This episode is the second in a series about examining your values, or as I’m now calling it “Values Realignment” - more on that later. It’s a part of an ongoing conversation my brother, Jeremy Sutton and I - both aging athletes - have been having for a while about how our values around things like competition and connection have changed as we’ve gotten older in order for us to continue making the most of our life trips. How - or even whether - we play sports as we age is just one way that our values affect our decisions and our activities. What are some ways you could benefit from assessing and realigning your values to where you are now in your life?

  • Come Sail Away

    09/10/2017 Duração: 36min

Part 2 of a series on the power of Honoring Your Values, this episode is a conversation with friend and fellow coach, Sean Forrester, in which we talk about boats. Yes, boats... as metaphors for values that drive our life trips. For example, traveling by sailboat has benefits and costs (advantages and disadvantages) that are somewhat different from traveling by power boat. And if your imagination is starting to "travel" in that direction right now, then check out this episode! The series is intended to get you thinking about your highest values and how well they are serving you in getting you where you want to be in your life. A classic example would be having a high value on freedom or independence, and having a job that might pay well but feels restrictive or even oppressive. You certainly could consider changing jobs; or you might consider shifting values at least temporarily. What might change for you if you chose to make financial security a higher value... just for now? How might that actually lead to b

  • Cracked Windshield

    25/09/2017 Duração: 28min

This episode is about examining our values - the benefits of clarifying our values, and the ways that our values can sometimes make it tough for us to see clearly or to get where we really want to go. Kind of like having one or more cracks in your windshield! It's the first in a series intended to help make connections between our values and self-awareness. This one's a solo episode in which I define values, explain what happens when we aren't very clear about our highest values (short version: we get stuck!), and suggest a process to begin exploring your values. I also make a special offer for some free coaching to help with that process!

  • How's Your Tour Guide?

    11/09/2017 Duração: 17min

This episode is about ways to begin to better hear and pay attention to your intuition, that other inner voice, the one that gets crowded out by things like over-thinking, busyness, or fear of showing emotion. It's for those of you whose Tour Guide is great with the rational, the quantifiable, but who may experience “paralysis by analysis.”    How might your life trip be different if your inner Tour Guide paid as much attention to your intuition as to your intellect?

  • Uneasy Riders

    28/08/2017 Duração: 43min

We tend to see life as either a "series of destinations/goals" or as a "journey" for its own sake. What might we be missing out on as a result of this either/or perspective? A conversation with my friend and fellow coach, Sean Forrester, offers another possibility!

How can you tell if you're becalmed? What are some things you can do about it? This episode features a new approach to my solo ventures in which - wait for it! - I interview myself.
