CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of the Pikes Peak Region is a volunteer-based nonprofit organization serving El Paso County and Teller County that trains and supervises volunteers to represent the best interests of our most vulnerable citizens – victims of child abuse, neglect, and severe domestic conflict. CASA volunteers are appointed by judges to be a voice for these children in court and in the community. The Children’s Literacy Center, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization founded and headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colorado, began as a Junior League project in 1991\. On March 24th Carrie is throwing Fouche's Fearless Fighter's Cancer Benefit and Concert to raise money for individuals and families going through cancer battles. January 11th her son Cameren was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. St. Mary’s High School became the first high school in Colorado have a sanctioned Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) competitive shooting team. The competitive shooting team offers a variety of opportunities for St. Mary’s students regardless of their ability, size, age, or gender. This unique co-ed sport offers boys and girls a chance to compete against each other. April 5th you are invited to the Teen Court Luncheon 11:30A-1P at the Double Tree Hilton. Over 8,000 at-risk teens in the last twenty-two years have walked through the doors of the Municipal Courthouse on their way to Teen Court. Less than 7% of them return with a second offence. Restorative justice for teens is more than a slogan, it’s what they do. Over 2,000 teen volunteers work with their peers every year, hearing cases and determining appropriate ways to repair harm. http://www.csteencourt.org/
