I brought on Anthony to discuss the comeback of metal music! We've noticed a ton of old school bands resurfacing recently, so we decided to dedicate an episode to it. Every so often general tastes and trends in music shift, and I think it's safe to say that heavier music is going to influence the near future. We talk everything from shows to new releases. I also play a game with Anthony to see how well he can comprehend deathcore lyrics! I mean seriously... does anyone really understand what is being said? Probably not. That's okay though, the music is still great.

Think you can tell the difference between Kanye West Tweets and inspirational Tumblr quotes? You might be surprised. This episode is all about diving into a genre I'm not too well versed on: indie hip-hop. I brought on the homegirl, Honestine, to review Kali Uchis' new album Isolation and discuss the magical live performer that is Jorja Smith. We also talk Coachella... again (but only a lil!).

Ever wonder what differentiates a model from an Instagram model? Same tbh. Look no further- in this episode I sit down with actress & model Olga Safari to discuss her success in the entertainment industry. We cover everything from how music videos are shot, to the music she listens to while training for big, upcoming roles in movies. If you've ever considered a role in entertainment, Olga gives valuable insight on handling rejection and failure (coming from someone who has experienced rejection on a weekly basis while modeling). It's not easy putting yourself out there for scrutiny, but then again... no one ever said it would be.

You know the wise mentor that guides the young hero throughout the journey in monomyths? Like Yoda? Well, Megan Holiday is sort of like my Yoda (of radio)... except way hotter and much more articulate. Megan is an LA-based DJ for the alternative rock station, 106.7 KROQ. Episode 22 sheds light on not only what it's like to be a radio personality in the #2 radio market in the US (hint: you have the power to break bands ;)), but also what it takes to get there. We also discuss the life-threatening obstacles she overcame in order to be in her position today, and what the future might hold for a bright & promising soul, like Holiday. 

Nikki Esteller is one of the three kick-ass women running the Latin Music Department over at Goldenvoice. Her team works nonstop to execute successful marketing campaigns & tours for artists from J. Balvin to Los Angeles Azules (and MANY more). We tap into the dynamic & recent evolution of the Latin music market and talk everything from Coachella, to what it's really like behind closed doors at the Goldenvoice office (spoiler: there are lots of puppies wandering around). 

We cover a lot of great music that has already dropped in the first quarter of the year. We have a man (that once punched a music teacher in the face) in charge of the country... school shootings occurring at an alarming rate, and our national anthem unfortunately getting butchered on live television at the NBA Allstar game. Fortunately, we get to hone in on positive events including Drake's charitable 'God's Gift', and Cardi B's message to her younger fans. We also talk Black Panther (if you haven't seen it, go see it now) and the rise of Nipsey Hustle.

We discuss the NFL's policy on paying their halftime performers a grand total of absolutely zero dollars. We explain what incentives motivate artist to forgo getting paid for such a large caliber performance. We also talk about some cool themes going on at this year's NAMM '18 convention in Anaheim.

Ever wonder why you get goose bumps when you listen to certain songs? Or why you do not? Same. This episode discusses the affect of music on the brain and why we react the way we do to it. Several studies found music to be more beneficial than the use of certain medications. Studies have also shown that different gernes have different affects on the brain. Tripppyyyy stuffffff.

Both are tough competitors, but only one can land on top! Before we square off we discuss a lot going on in the world such as Logan Paul senselessly filming a suicide victim. It's been a great year all around and we're excited to bring you guys new content come 2018. Semisi digs down into his feelings with a heart-felt top 10 songs of 2017. Emmy, however, dabbles into various unforgettable concert stories, from watching GWAR behead Donald Trump while covering "If You Want Blood" by ACDC, to being backstage with the Red Hot Chili Peppers. We also disclose artists we want to hear new music from in 2018.

We do our best to give you guys the run down about the effect that repealing net neutrality will have on the internet. We're no experts here... but we've concluded that the repeal is a terrible thing. This means nothing but bad news for music industry underdogs and underground artists.

As usual, we're discussing everything happening in the music industry this week, along with our favorite Christmas songs (well Semisi's anyways)! Semisi also is looking for a Jewish internship... so if anyone out there is looking to help convert someone... he's your dude! While the holidays may mean happiness and joy for some- others are battling inner demons. A 24/7 helpline for music industry professionals was launched this week in the UK after a study of 2,200 musicians concluded that 69% of them have suffered from severe depression. We also talk fighting drug addiction by purchasing an A$AP Rocky cookie making kit!

After a week-long hiatus (I got locked out of my studio somehow) we are back on our bullshiz this week with a fully packed episode of music and weirdness. We discuss everything from how whack the Grammys really is, to undergoing surgery to become a cyborg.... to a benefit show hosted by Silversun Pickups for Puerto Rico hurricane relief. Semisi also dabbles in very strange sexual experiences, while I fully disclose the most bizarre Tinder story I've ever heard. And of course, what would a Grammy episode be without taking a few jabs at T. Swift?

Sam Smith's new Album, The Thrill of It All, just hit No. 1 on Billboard Top 100! We thought it was only right to dedicate an episode to his glory... even though he might be getting hit with a copyright infringement case...again. In this episode we discuss his new album (which is amazing), copyright law, and other musicians that are guilty of song-jacking. 

The Dodgers are heading to the World Series for the first time since 1988! Quick episode to recap all the music played throughout the stadium, as well as a couple stadium secrets. Also included is info about the #HR4HR campaign to support hurricane victims in need.
