He is passionate about sharing his adventures on Youtube. All of his work is fantastic but, I consider his video of his Frank Church Wilderness to trully capture all the facets of backcountry hunting. Ian Porter has a passion for shooting and mechanical engineering. Put the two together with some drive and amibition, throw in a CNC Mill and Porter Machine Works was born. This is the story of how he got to here and now.

After a completing her Degree, Lora Young decided to head south from her native USA to the lands Down Under. Here began adventure hunting in lands from rugged alpine mountains to tropical wetlands. What awaited her in the future unknown. Once again, I see the gift of what hardship can bring; the objectivity, and clarity of mind and purpose that drives many to fight for what is most important and relish it all. It can't be bought no matter the personal treasures one has amassed. TIME.  

Reg is a veteran Sambar hunter with a passion for video and photography. He lives for time in the mountains and the solace, peace and belonging he feels there. Now in the twilight of his hunting he is passionate about sharing what hunting is truly about, especially through his YouTube Channel. Even after a stroke near took his life, and mobility, three years ago, Reg rehabed himself, and is back out in the hills on a very regular basis.  His life is an example to all.

This time round I talk with Jay Orange from Orange Accuracy on the differences and challenges with a long range shot when hunting as opposed to on a range. We talk position, variables, unknowns and big stuff ups.  

In this episode I am joined by Ross from High Caliber, an Australian owned and supplier of Aussie made gun cleaning products. With a background in hunting Ross knew there were improvements to be had.

I talk with Tasmanian couple Tracey and Wayne Turale on their experiences of hunting, their involvement in the sport, gear and the numerous hunts they have done in the US. No, Tracey and Wayne are not a rich. They just saved hard to follow their passion in life and built lifelong friendships on chance meetings.  We can all learn from this discussion to spread the proper understanding of hunting and its benefits to main stream citizens of Australia. And with food dependency front and centre during COVID what better opportunity would we get in spreading some venison diplomacy.

If we were to distill what we love about hunting, or indeed any other pursuit, it is the experiences. Indeed experiences, and where they occur for Hunters are similar for other pursuits. I talk with Fly Fisher and author Greg French on the similarities, why they are important to us, and the complexity in the whole management and protection of them.

Game Wardens, do they make a difference? In reality nothing to be feared by Hunters doing the right thing. On the other hand, well you may just feel the full force of the law. If we as Hunters want to improve and protect our image to normal citizens then we need to own that. And the right enforcement of the laws pertaining to and surrounding hunting can make a huge difference.
