Because our children are so precious to us, we want to tell them everything we know, but that can easily overwhelm them. Our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, so taking care of these temples is part of our worship of God, especially as the people around us are better off if we are healthy, energized, and engaged. How do you talk to people that are much younger than you, that are facing a world much different than you, but take eternal truths and put it on their level? What would it be like to just die right now? A lot of people would be terrified. A lot of people are just not ready–too much to do, and it's scary, we haven't been there before. But some have and they have a wonderful story to share. After being in broadcast ministry for about 40 years, Kay Meyer is about to take a step back, and we know what that means--she's gonna find something else to do. "I'm waiting on the Lord to open doors," answered Kay. That's right. But after 40 years, she has had an amazing track record with all sorts of guests and all sorts of topics and all sorts of opportunities that the Lord has opened up. So this is our part three of a showcase of Kay Meyer, the founder and minister behind and under Family Shield Ministries. She has washed our feet through broadcasting and ministry for 40 years, and that includes you, our listeners, and me, a podcast host, and Mark Frith, who's also a pastor and in the house to help us showcase the tremendous impact and to do the highlight reel of Kay Meyer's ministry, throughout all the ways God has blessed her to use her voice to speak His Word. Family Shield Ministries is based on Ephesians 6 – the shield of faith, not just for us but in ancient times sometimes shields are so big that they would interlock with the shield of the person next to you or it’s a big shield where he could protect not just yourself but like God, the mighty fortress. And so Family Shield Ministries from the very beginning and all along the way, has been about shielding the family under your care as God shields all of us, including your people, as a part of his family. Right now it is so easy to just get in your car in the garage, open the door, drive out, go about your life in your own cubicle, in your own little lane, and your own office, and then drive, home park in your garage, put the garage door down, and then then you just go inside and take care of your own family. But today we have an incredible opportunity to spend some time with somebody who refused to park in the garage and just keep her nose to herself and just keep her nose out of everybody else’s business. We have the gift of a woman who got involved in everybody's family, everybody's family business to bring them to be much more of a part of the family of God; not just to be themselves but to be in partnership. So today I have the incredible blessing to share a microphone with Mark Frith, who's also in studio, and the famous, the sacred, the precious Kay Meyer.

The reason why we're doing this is most congregations have a problem and that problem is your kids don't wanna come back. Your kids don't wanna come back because it's irrelevant, it's disconnected. And so we are excited to share this book with you, Seven Practices of Healthy Youth Ministry. And we brought on one of the authors, Julianna Schults, as I mentioned and if you missed Part 1 of the conversation, she shared her absolute favorite out of the seven practices and it was a great conversation. This is from Concordia publishing house and it is a journey through church history. Christa Petzold has written this book and is a tremendous gift of just short bedtime stories, or reading it in the car stories. It really showcases the people who have come before us that have handed down the faith to us telling us and raising us in the faith to say, that Bible, the word that it says, it changes everything. And she also even goes into sort of the history of our our worship service. So if you've ever wondered why we are the way we are, where we got it, and how it got here, Christa’s  book is just the answer to all that. Plus, it's fun to read. And it's designed for little kiddos, so if you are a five year old or a 50 year old, this book is gonna keep you engaged and make you a lot hungrier for um, just the treasures that people have laid down before.

Sometimes at funerals and terrible tragedies or events or something that's bad news has just happened, and we say the worst things. At the moment of Jesus' death the curtain in the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook and the rocks split. What does the tearing of the temple mean? How many days did Jesus appear to people after the resurrection? How many people saw him at one time after the resurrection? We often spend a lot of time during Lent and Easter learning about the suffering and death of Christ but how much do we know about what he did after he rose bodily from the dead? Today we have once again, a special guest David Brickner, who is the Executive Director of a pretty wonderful ministry, especially if you were listening last time, of all the wonderful doors that God is opening through the Old Testament. Executive Director of Jews for Jesus, which is an International Ministry out of San Francisco. So this episode is a promise kept, last time we were with David Brickner, and he and I were talking about all the overlap, all the distinctions, and also just how to share the Faith with your Jewish neighbor, doctor, lawyer, cousin, friend, teacher, student, and it was a great conversation in my opinion.
