In this week’s episode of Till Death Do Us Pod we chat to the fabulous Bea Appleby, who is a Journalist, Author & Editor of The Female Lead. The Female Lead is an educational charity which does such important work in the interest of women. We had such a great chat, one of the truly incredible projects they worked on was called Disrupt Your Feed, the project worked with young women, getting them to follow different types of women on social media, the results were amazing!. We also chatted about their new book which I was lucky enough to be included called 'We Rise By Lifting Others', which features 67 women who are leaders in their field. This week we spoke to Mandu Reid, leader of the Women’s Equality Party. We recorded this episode because International Day of the Elimination of Violence against women but talking about violence against women is sadly always a relevant topic. In our chat we explored the link between sexism and violence against women, how all of that contributes towards gender inequality and why, despite it being the most persistent and devastating human rights violation in the world, it’s not high on the political agenda. Mandu talked about her party WEP’s hopes and plans to end male violence against women and what changes we need to install in society to address the challenges we face. In this week’s episode we look at some Hilariously Misheard Song Lyrics. I think it has happened to all of us – you’ve been singing along to a song when suddenly everyone puts down their drinks, looks at you funny and starts laughing... Yep, you’ve gone and got the words wrong. “Sweet dreams are made of cheese” and “Built this city on sausage rolls” are two ridiculous example of people getting things wrong. I also share my top 3 personal song lyrics that I had wrong for years and years, I had changed them all into men’s names…you have to listen to understand, it is utterly ridiculous and equally hilarious.

This is our Father’s Day edition of Till Death Do Us Pod and we are chatting to Mike Julianelle, a very sarcastic and brutally honest parenting blogger. Mike is 40-something dad living in Brooklyn with his wife and two kids. You would have probably seen loads of his content on Instagram under the handle ‘Dad and Buried’. In this week’s episode of Till Death Do Us Pod we are chatting to Simon Brodkin. You would know Simon as a Comedian, most well-known for his stunts, stand up shows and the characters he mimics. All sounds very standard right? What you don’t know is that Simon studied and practiced medicine before leaving it all behind so pursue a career in comedy. We chatted to him about his role as a comedian, his previous life as a doctor and that time Trump had him arrested.

In this week’s episode of Till Death Do Us Pod we chat to Nikole Mitchell, the pastor turned stripper. We came across her profile on Instagram, researched her a bit and thought she would make an amazing guest and lucky for us, she agreed to come onto the show! Nikole has such an incredible story, going from being a Pastor in a mega church to becoming a kick ass life coach who also happens to be an adult model.

In this week’s episode we chat with the marvelous Molly Mulshine about Diva’s and Space Trash. Molly has some super interesting views on the term ‘Diva’ and how women are labelled this way but men never are. Molly, the American, also taught Mike something new about London…you know, the city he has lived in his whole life. We played a game of 2 Truths & a Lie…you will have to listen to find out if Molly did shots with Paris Hilton at a fashion week event and if Mike really was in a Madonna music video.

On this week’s episode of Till Death Do Us Pod we are chatting to Scott Stuart, Scott is a best-selling children’s book author who is committed to creating content that empowers young kids. I first came across Scott on Instagram where he had posted a video of him and his son dressed as Queen Elsa, off to the Frozen 2 Premiere. I found his content around gender stereotypes and toxic masculinity really intriguing and knew that Mike and I had to get him onto the show to find out more. Scott recently released his 4th book, My Shadow is Pink, it is such a beautifully written book and our girls have really enjoyed it. We also played a game of 2 Truths & a Lie which is always hilarious. 

In today’s episode we are going to talk about THE LIES WE TELL OUR KIDS. We don’t advocate lying to our kids but sometimes these little white lies are the only way to get things done when reason fails. And let’s be honest here, kids are not generally very reasonable people so we resort to white lies. Think of those little white lies you tell your kids to get them to eat their vegetables or tidy their mess or just to get them to behave. So Mike and I have put together a list of white lies that so many of us have told our kids…and continue to tell them, some of them are absolutely hilarious, for example “It is not coke, it’s black water and you won’t like it”. 

Thursday, 6 May is international No Diet Day and I have had a lot to say about diet culture over the years. Too much of our worth seems to be tied into our weight and looks and it is just crazy to me. So they say that ‘No Diet Day’ is a time to put away the scales, stop calorie counting and to accept who we are and what we look like. We say that everyday is a good day for this, just throw the scale away already, eat the cake and get on with enjoying your life. Mike and I decided to bring in Harriet, a.k.a. TobyandRoo and Riona OConnor as guests for this episode, they are also known for being really vocal on shitty diet culture and body positivity. We also played a game of Diet Bingo, nobody won but we had some fun with it. Enjoy!!

In this week's episode we chatted to Mandu Reid leader of the @womensequalityparty. We talked about how the party is tackling all the important issues (violence against women, pay gap, childcare etc) and not just on International Women's Day, but all year round. Why other political parties don't have 'women's rights' at the top of their agenda, and why WEP’s work is so important and needed. We were so inspired by her words about feminism, why it's not a hostile word, why the party is also for men and why they should get behind their agenda, and how she deals with resistance from women themselves. This is something I've struggled a lot with myself, especially recently with my video about Sarah Everard and my latest video on sexism, and it was so interesting to hear her talk about how internalized misogyny and living in a patriarchal society as women, but also how compassion helps her navigate through all of that. Kids can argue over the most ridiculous things, if you have kids then you know exactly what I am talking about. I recently posted a story about my girls fighting. It was 8 o clock in the morning and they were shouting at each other and really getting into it over such mundane shit. So many people DM’ed me on the back of that post, telling me about the ridiculous nonsense that their kids argue about and we knew that we had to do an episode on this topic. The most popular responses were very important issues like— shower order, who gets to open the front door, where each kid sits in the car and who gets to press the elevator button. Very important issues right???! Well have a listen, we got some amazing stories in and it is truly hilarious.

I first met Monique when we both spoke on a panel for Moms That Rave, I loved what she had to say and knew that I needed to have her on the show ‘one day’ and this week is that ‘one day’. I would describe Monique as a music mogul, she has been in the music industry for over 15 years and has played an integral role in shaping the careers of some of the world’s biggest musicians and high net-worth individuals. The thing that makes her story so amazing is that she started out as a Receptionist at a record label. We chatted about what it is like working in such a male-dominated industry and how not to talk yourself out of the room that you worked so hard to get into.
