Jamie Rittenberry | When life give you lemons...
19/07/2023 Duração: 01h35minJamie Rittenberry has one heck of a story, but he might sometimes be reluctant to share it as he admits to being uncomfortable participating in the "trauma-olympics." While he faced a ton of adversity, his humble and kind nature led him to downplay his own experiences so as not to diminish anyone else's. I was simply hoping to learn more about Jamie's life and what kind of magic it took for him to not only survive but to garner so much wisdom along the way, while serving as an RN and co-parenting his children. What I didn't expect? To be educated on polyamory... stick with us, it's towards the end! We talked about foster care, love, co-parenting, sobriety, early interventions, and ultimately being a cycle breaker. The book I attempted to reference: This Naked Mind(Sidenote: I fully support Alcoholics Anonymous, I know many for which it has helped greatly! For those who are seeking support, there is much to be had! Find what works for you!)I hope you enjoy this episode as much a

Alyson McAdams | Reclaiming our power and ending the war with our bodies
04/03/2022 Duração: 01h29minAlyson McAdams RD and I (let's be honest, I have a lot to say here), talk about our culture and the grip body and health obsession has (or has had) on so many of us. Alyson is a non-diet, weight-inclusive dietitian specializing in disordered eating, intuitive eating, and family nutrition. Alyson works to help others develop a strong, flexible, and positive relationship with food. She is passionate about helping you discover peace with food and your body so you can show up fully for what matters to you in life. Formally, Alyson is a registered dietician, her focus is so much bigger than food. And as many of us have come to understand, it is never really about the food. Alyson is dedicated to having an honest look at the culture of dieting, fitness, media, and the unworthiness that is born of it. She wants to help other humans free themselves from these chronic concerns and help heal and ultimately liberate us from this toxic energy suck (my words, not hers). This is a very personal conversation for me t

Home for the Holidays?!
23/11/2021 Duração: 31min"I love meeting people's mom. It's like reading an instruction manual as to why they are nuts."~Ted LassoThis quote is perfection. The truth it holds is powerful and brutal. It is so easy to see that from the outside of ourselves when meeting the in-laws, or being inside someone else's hometown experience. But, when the table turns, and we use that wisdom to examine our own instruction manual, it can be pretty uncomfortable. As we grow and change and become, and "unbecome", these familiar, but less frequented spaces can be a brutiful place to reflect on how we have changed and it challenges us to stay true to our own progress. Adding fuel to the flame, is the insanity of these times, especially after many of us had a year off from these familiar gathering spaces. The reminder is to me is that we are complex, messy, beautiful creatures who have adapted to survive, and at the heart of all of it is our innate need for love and connection. Happy Holidays Friends. 04/11/2021 Duração: 01h13minAnne Zemba tells her story of love and unimaginable loss. Brian Zemba, her beloved husband and soulmate died unexpectedly at only 43 years old. Melissa Kinney | What if a missed ADHD diagnosis suddenly made your whole life make more sense?
02/06/2021 Duração: 01h31minFrom the parking lot of Costco in the midst of a global pandemic, I received a phone call that has changed my life and changed my beloved friend Melissa's too. What if, after 40 years of living, you realize that much of the ways the world has been so hard are simply because of undiagnosed neurodiversity... even more so, what if much of your overwhelm, anxiousness and depression were symptoms of a missed diagnosis of ADHD. Women and girls are commonly underdiagnosed in ADHD because we all expect it to look a particular way. We all know that boy from grade school who could never seem to sit still, stop talking, or stay out of trouble. I assumed for much of my life that I had ADD and considered it a strength in many ways, but I was missing some crucial information. I didn't understand how much of a player it was in my relationships, my ability to keep up with work, motherhood, parenting, and how often it led me to avoid conflict at all costs. Melissa had a similar experience, though it was never even o

Amanda Crowell Itliong | Not Dead Yet
05/05/2021 Duração: 01h13minAmanda is a badass human being. Her tagline tells it like it is. #notdeadyet While you'd be tempted to think this conversation is all about cancer. It is really about how our circumstances define us, and what it really means to be ALIVE. At 29 years old, living in San Francisco, with her dream job, a husband, and travel, she was taken, quite literally, to her knees by the big-bad C-word, ovarian cancer. Now, at 41 years old, she has been in and out of remission countless times, and lives with the diagnosis of terminal cancer and weekly treatments to prolong the inevitable. What makes Amanda so incredible is far-reaching beyond her cancer chronicles, it is how she has chosen to show up. While we would all like to imagine the person we'd become when shit hits the fan on repeat, Amanda is who I would aspire to be. She is hilarious, joyful, fierce, and has found powerful ways to create a meaningful life. She is an advocate, an activist, a public speaker, a patient advocate and the kind of person who

Marianne Steele | The reckoning of healing beyond the mind***
20/04/2021 Duração: 01h33min*** Trigger Warning, this episode contains references to childhood sexual abuse and PTSD. Marianne Steele's story is one that could fill the pages of a novel. She so graciously allows us to peek inside a story that begins with a traumatic childhood and launches from the era of free love, communal living in none other than San Franciso, and catapulted into an adventure born of her impulse to survive. Marianne speaks frankly about so often she had met her own trauma from the healing born of the mind and it wasn't until she had a major breakdown of the body in the last few years that she began to truly reckon with what healing looks like, how to self-care and facing the diagnosis of complex PTSD. Marianne now words as a Shiatsu bodyworker, an energy worker, an intuitive teacher, and a medium. David Bedrick | Insatiable hunger and the wisdom held within it
11/11/2020 Duração: 01h35minDavid Bedrick is a psychologist, speaker, teacher, and attorney, and author, but that does not sum up the heart of David and his work. He is a deeply gentle, thoughtful, and compassionate human being who shares an insatiable curiosity to both understanding human beings and advocating for those who are oppressed. Together we share stories, deep questions, and a loving look a the world of body shame, and the expansive world of diet and body obsession masquerading as wellness. He has written a beautiful book of women's stories through the lens of a compassionate witness. Not only are the stories he shares relatable, but they also hold the wisdom of looking into our own hunger to find the answer to what it is we really crave. I have worked diligently to lean away from conversations on body, diet, and weight-loss because I do not want to give more energy to what has consumed so many of us. However, this conversation is different, it is deeper, more radical, and an invitation to look beneath the story for you

Ros is an expert in human design, a system that offers in her words" the most incredible and accurate interpretation of personality and life calling." Admittedly, I was impressed with my own human design map and its accuracy. This system and the way it was created is pretty fascinating, a bit trippy and totally worth a listen.
